REVIEW: Thomas Mengel - Breaking Bad out on AVANTI / Black Hole

1. Original Mix
2. Breaking Insane Edit

This time delivering the goods on the Avanti imprint, Thomas Mengel leaves the studio with "Breaking Bad", complementing the original with a massive edit.

Hailing from Denmark, 27 year old Thomas Mengel keeps growing with his studio output. Still an active DJ, Thomas has successfully spread his wings, expanding his career to the rest of the world as a producer. As the winning DJ who mixed the third CD with the best classics from the In Search Of Sunrise series as part of a contest connected to the release of the 10th volume of ISOS as mixed by Richard Durand, he launched his name with a bang. Thomas used his time wisely after that and released the tracks "Heliconia", "Slick Attitude" (which recently appeared on the Progressive House EP 001), "Accelerate" (featuring the vocals of Roberta Harrison) and, most recently, "This Is Who We Are".

Showcasing his skills in the field of electro house, Thomas now presents his latest trick titled "Breaking Bad". Reference to the TV series or not, fact is that the single sports a powerful arrangement with driving sweeps and a kaleidoscope of synths and strings, giving the entire cut a pleasantly frantic overall sound. Add to that his Breaking Insane Edit and every DJ knows how to ignite the main room!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The AVANTI imprint of Black Hole recordings presents the magnificent Thomas Mengel with his big room epic prog house outing called Breaking Bad. The original mix is certainly one of those tracks that you will remember for long. Elements that stand out are of course the playful arrangement that keeps you waiting and wanting  for more, the manic rocking beats and the slamming in your face basslines along with dirty, squeezed rave style synthy lead to raise the hair from your back and drive the crowd out of the heads. Its impact is immediate and will be fatal and unavoidable for the dancefloor. The Breaking Insane edit is tougher, rougher and rioting with with even more hard dance references and excellent build up that contains  melodic atmospheric breakdowns and large climax to bring the so much needed eargasms. Its maddening, packed with surprises and will leave you speechless. Can you handle the challenge and drop it in your next set?  Love IT!
