REVIEW: Gui Boratto - Too Late EP out on Kompakt

GUI BORATTO’s tracks are often considered the swiss army knives of club music, as they never fail to ignite a spark in the laziest of crowds, whatever its context or complexion. That might be due to the producer’s keen sense of ear-popping melodies and hip-swinging beats, a ridiculously catchy combination that clearly transcends simple notions of genre. Title track TOO LONG is no different, starting off as a pleasantly relaxed exercise in house and ramping up the immersion levels with finely tuned female vocals that owe as much to classic pop stylings as they do to the textures of club music.

In the meantime, the flipside runs rampant with WE CAN GO, a hearty banger sporting a fierce bassline and some pretty gripping beats ready for world domination. The distinctive male vocals may bring a message of peace, but it shouldn’t be mistaken for surrender – this is an authoritative voice taking a stance, not the plushy whining of the spoiled and spineless. An exceedingly powerful slice of floor-sweeping glory, it’s another testament to the well-honed skill set that GUI BORATTO brings to the table, and a hugely succesful at that. Together, these tracks represent some of his finest work to date, giving club punters world-wide a perfectly valid reason to show up in full regalia.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The awesome high quality techno imprint Kompakt presents the brand new brainchild by the most beloved South American tech house producer and dj Gui Boratto from Sao Paolo. The high quality label delivers two magical deep tech house beauties perfect for the summer dj sets. Too Long is a magnificent deep dreamy tech house track with lazy summery balearic  atmosphere with deep haunting basslines, pulsating bubbly beats and warm melodies to drive you safe and show you magical places and spaces.  The female vocal comes in to sing some really spaced out lyrics that can make sense or not depends on how you feel the moment you hear them. We Can Go  is a tougher tech house monster with aggressive raw basslines, pulsating rolling beats, dark and sinister melodies and on top what stands out is the very interesting male vocal that has a message to tell to the world. Electronic Dance Music is about partying and enjoying ourselves sometimes in hedonistic way but at the same time EDM producers have a political stance and great interest about the real world they leave in. I wonder if you stay in Brazil or in Spain, Portugal or Greece and so many protesters are in the city centre shouting for social justice and their right to work,  how can you switch off everything and not being outspoken about it in your music. The only way that an EDM producer can stay isolated in his fluffy cloud is to be part of the elite class of this world and thinking about only himself and avoiding to consider about the social problems that seems to get worst every day. Music can make the world a better peaceful place and unite us against all odds. Gui Buratto EP is a must have this summer. Food to dance and think about too. Love IT!
