The next Axon release comes from our god friend Anthony Yarranton. He seems to be on a roll, with support on his tracks coming from big names such as John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and Marc Poppcke. With this latest two-track EP, we're certain he'll prove why he's a name to watch!
Kicking off the EP is 'Crows', which is a deep and atmospheric tech house track. The track features a hypnotic (and melancholic) percussive groove, and some eerie sounds. It's a great way to kick off the EP.
Completing the package is 'Snake Charmer', which features a cool (yet understated) Middle-Eastern flavour. The track has some great percussive elements, alongside some great sounding stab/chords. Another great track here.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Axon recordings is a very fresh house record labels that focuses on the progressive tech house sound. The talented Anthony Yaranton service two excellent tracks with different flavours. Crows is deep minimal tech house beauty with techy beats, deep basslines, nice melodies to relax and trip out while you dance along the hypnotic beas. Snake Charmer is the more interesting as it sounds more complex with excellent tribal house percussion, solid basslines and haunting atmosphere. He adds on top a melody from Middle East instrument to add the ethnic dimension. On top he uses some spoken vocal samples to build further his attempted ambiance and rich soundscapes. Quality package. Love iT!
