Our 13th release on Touchstone Recordings comes from Anthony Mayer. ‘Tyrantic’ in its original form is a lo-fi slab of deep progressive trance music – something very unusual in-fact. The track has the hallmarks of classic Sasha / Digweed productions; a huge arpeggiated bassline provides the constantly evolving lead hook and a moody filtered and degraded organ rides atop the thumping kick and metallic percussion layers. Belgian producer Pete Hulsmans (Kill The Lights, Discover Deep) is on remix duties. His mix remains faithful to the Original Mix’s progressions, but he gives it a Future-Prog-Trance makeover, crunchy percussion and kick provide the backbone whilst dark and brooding synth layers emerge and multiply, the crescendo being a huge key change post-break which lifts the track to another level. The cool label reached its 13th release and once again surprise us with the massive Tyrantic by Anthony Mayer. The original mix is a dark punchy bouncy dark trancer that builds relentlessly its melodic layers reminiscent of Binary Finary's seminal classic 1998. Tyrantic is more about the atmosphere and the hypnotic state that solid trance should bring on the dancefloor rather than overloading with effects and gimmicks. Its what trance music should be about and what was trance music when it was established back in the middle of the 90's. With an old school feel but with an eye in the future Tyrantic is trance with capital T. For those who search for an enlightening melodic alternative Peter Hulsman transforms the darker moody original into a light colourful trancer that builds beautifully without the need of excessive synths and massive drops. Just wonderful melodies on top of a steady bouncy trance beat. The only thing that can describe it is Pure trance. Remind yourself what is good in that genre that thousands worship worldwide.
