REVIEW: Jason van Wyk & JPL with Cat Martin - Every Mile Away out on Songbird / Black Hole recordings

1. Original Mix
2. JPL Club Mix
3. Pierre Pienaar Remix

Jason van Wyk's new collaboration with JPL and Cat Martin "Every Mile Away" is now available as a full release on Songbird, including remixes by JPL and the Pierre "P.H.A.T.T." Pienaar.

Cape Town based Jason van Wyk became a house hold name to EDM in the last decade. He sky rocketed with his forward thinking and a creative approach to music. Jason played alongside Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, Sander van Doorn and many, many more. Remix assignments came from artists such as Grammy award nominee BT and Kirsty Hawkshaw and so far Jason made name with “Far From Me” and his single “Always”. “Once Again” got featured on Cosmic Gate’s 4th volume of their “Back2Back” CD series. “September Rain” later on appeared on volume 8 of “In Search Of Sunrise”. His most recent release "WInter" did very well and last year Jason released the single "Safe" in collaboration with JPL and Cat Martin; meeting up with them again for the new "Every Mile Away".

JPL is the alter ego of the Swedish DJ/producer Joni Ljungqvist, who went from strength to strength at a very young age. Reaping 5/5 reviews in British magazine DJ Mag he landed three tracks on Tiësto’s popular “In Search of Sunrise” series (volumes 4, 5 and 7), receives continuous support from the known DJs and runs his own radio show proving that he has accomplished quite a lot already.

Cat Martin is a professional songwriter and vocalist. Drawing influences from Imogen Heap, Tori Amos and Jewel, she began her musical career as a singer-songwriter playing extensively throughout the Northern Irish acoustic scene. In January 2009 Cat released her debut on Armin van Buuren's Armada Music label. The track - Dave Graham ft. Cat Martin - "Love Always Fades" received support from all corners of the globe, was nominated Tune of the Week by Armada and has appeared in over 15 compilation albums to date.

Jason van Wyk's "Every Mile Away" offers a magnificent soundscape in the Balearic tradition with gentle synths and the calming, moody vocals by Cat Martin while the beats hold sway. Pierre Pienaar -a.k.a. P.H.A.T.T., Melodia, ReBirth, JXS Project and Deep Sequence- took care of the remix and pushed the BPM up a notch for a slightly rougher trance version. Add to that the outstanding JPL Remix and every DJ knows right away that "Every Mile Away" is destined to rule the festivals this season.

Dimitri Kechagias review: After their first  very successful collaboration with Safe, they are back with another sure winner in their pocket. Songbird presents the comeback track by Jason van Wyk, JPL and the magnificent Cat Martin on vocal duties. Their new track is called Every Mile Away and will cast a spell on you straight away.  It combines great melodic content with fragile whispering style vocals by Cat Martin in order to have a hypnotic dream like effect on the listener. The package includes 3 right and exact versions that any trancer will adore. The original mix is smooth travelling laid back bubbly balearic trancer that you can imagine listening to it on your favourite media player while you sail the sea and you are observing tropical green Islands go by. The deep but steadily developing driving bassline, the beautiful smooth beats that become more aggressive after the calming and quite short breakdown brings the relaxation and great magic moment that any good trancer offer open heartily  to its listeners.  JPL remix is a harder approach to the original with tougher tribal beats, driving basslines, warm strings, balearic style sensitive and sun infused  melodies  and the sweet and dreamy vocals on top. Its the purest form of vocal trance that takes you on board for a nice trance journey without excessive effects and gimmicks. Last but not least Pierre Pienaar provides the big room/proglifting style trancer with playful composition, groovy electro infused basslines and luscious melodies on top. The beat is dominating while the vocal runs like water upon it. The breakdown reveals the big euphoric synthy stabs perfect to drive the crowd crazy and get them excited with hands in the air. If you search for mainstage style version Pierre offer the right choice for you. Overall is great vocal trancer with 3 on the spot versions to make your day and nights. Love iT!
