The Amsterdam Dance Event of 2012 was the 17th edition, and according to all visitors and commentators, was the biggest in size in term of wide variety of activities available. In terms of its size, the number of the people attending, the various conferences, the talks and discussion panels, the music and DJ technology showcase, and the fantastic night events, this event is unprecedented anywhere. The events were mostly hosted by the most significant record labels and artists in the EDM culture at this time. ADE is the only accurate reflection of what really happens in the world of EDM culture. By giving much needed space and time to those who are involved in the various elements of the EDM industry so they can meet in person, distant friends who usually only communicate with each other via email and online social networks, can meet face to face. The most vibrant, the most expanding, the most prosperous industry, and its exciting culture found its home at last, and Amsterdam seems to be the perfect place to host it.
On Friday 19th, ALDA events, which is considered by many to be one of the best event organisers and production companies worldwide, presented the massive ‘Armada Night’ which was an event packed with trance music in its all various shapes and sizes. From the more melodic progressive house/electro house influence, to banging 140 BPM tough uplifting euphoric sound. Great DJ’s; such as the superstar Armin van Buuren, Tenishia, W&W, Sied van Riel, Max Graham, Aly & Fila, John O'Callaghan, Ashley Wallbridge & Tom Fall - all entertained the crowd until the very early morning, with non-stop music mostly from Armada Music imprint having a vast back catalogue of trance releases.
Next Armada Night video interview is the upcoming and highly successful DJ and producer; Ashley Wallbridge. He manages to cause huge waves of interest in his music, with his debut album "The Inner Me". We did a written interview for this top album when it was released, and I was glad to meet him in person and find out how charming, smiling and down-to-earth he really is, without being pretentious. Firstly, he tells us his views about ADE, and if he performed at other Armada Nights. We ask his opinion about his good friend and mentor; DJ and producer Andy Moor, who is his label boss at AVA recordings. He does his appraisal of his album, and he expresses his gratification at the final result. He reveals that in March of 2013, the remix edition of "The Inner Me" is planned, and I'm sure that his growing fan base will put that month in their diaries.
We attempt to find out the situations or emotions that inspire him to come up with such strong and unforgettable melodic themes in his tracks. We ask him to define the "Ashley Wallbridge" sound, and try to figure out if we can label it as trance or progressive house - or something in between. At this moment, a very good friend and supporter makes a guest appearance in his interview, and we mean the one and only superstar DJ Armin van Buuren. We ask him about his forthcoming tracks, and his b2b set with Tom Fall at Armada Night, where he actually had to divide their one and a half hour slot in two forty five minute segments. On first, Ashley played his selections and rocked the crowd big-time. Finally, he give us his opinion about Armin’s achievement in reaching the number one position for fifth time at the DJ Mag Top 100 list. We also asked his general opinion about the importance of that list on the career of any DJ & producer nowadays. Ashley is a great guy to have an interview with, and I hope you will enjoy watching it.
