Some tracks will never leave the dance floor and some tunes never leave our hearts. 10 of those tracks reign from the Signum studio. Keeping trance alive for more than 15 years, the project of Ron Hagen and Pascal Minnaard resulted in a collection of ultimate trance classics and future favourites. Those classics now get a brand new interpretation by some of today’s most talented producers, coming together on ‘Signum Remixed’!

Without ever losing their feel for trance that they started in 1997, Signum built a significant yet diverse sound throughout the years. With the grand successes of ‘Push Through’, ‘First Strike’, ‘What Ya Got 4 Me’ and ‘Come Around Again’, Signum inspired the new generation of EDM producers to come up with their own interpretation of these trance essentials. ‘Signum Remixed’ features 10 key Signum tunes, remixed by the likes of Roger Shah, Mark Sixma, Mike Foyle, Faruk Sabanci, Jason van Wyk, Juventa and many more!

Given a firm 2012 & 2013 update, ‘Signum Remixes’ relights the dance floor and revives some of EDM’s most influential classics.

Dimitri Kechagias review: When we notice on ASOT radio show Armin van Buuren including some new remixes on classic Signum tracks, we were wondering what is hidden behind them. As it seems perfect for Christmas the top Dutch label Armada Music presents with huge bang the album we were waiting for and any true trancelover will not miss. The beloved Signum classics that are written in our hearts like the love messages written in the wouds are back. The true anthems return reshuffled, remodelled and reshaped for the demanding needs of the modern trancefloors. The best producers put their best clothes and deliver exceptional reworks. First of all the unforgettable First Strike is remixed by the talented and upcoming Dutch Juventa who moves towards the progressive trance/big room style. He adds all the modern elements we are accustomed to get on a huge big room trance anthem with respect to the original. The vocal trance anthem Come Around Again with Anita Kelsey that we hope to return in the trance scene is rebanged and resmashed by the balearic hero Roger Shah who deliver his Banging Retro Remix. Full on proglifting euphoria with the feel good sing a long vocals to dance the night away and sing passionately. Harmonic is offered to Estiva who delivers a superb rework faithful to the original and to his own well known style of raw basslines, proggy chunky beats and ethereal heavenly style melodies. The Russians Abstract Vision & Elite Electronic remake the fantastic Syndicate and they know so well how to extract from a track all the juicy beats and melodies and build them up again in their own big room full on proglifting style with ultra large euphoric synths in the breakdown and great climax to carry away the clubbers. Mark Sixma is on board as well and he has as a duty to bring back The Timelord. The tech trance magician doesn't loose the great opportunity and he does what he knows best. Fast slamming banging techy mechanical beats, wonky basslines and swirling synths along with cool melodic layers are combined in perfect harmony to bring happiness and euphoria on the dancefloor. The melancholic melody in the breakdown is slowly replaced with the distorted rave style synth that drives the track into oblivion. Mike Foyles offers his Dark Wave Remix for Second Wave. It is not the banging version that someone else could come up with. It rather moves on the deep progressive trance direction and Mike does what he knows best when he is in the studio. Long breakdown to allow the melodic theme to develop and shine and then the chunky proggy beats return for the massive hands in the air climax that the hair raising synths and the melancholic take on the melody really makes this version to stand out.  Of course What Ya Got 4 Me is included as well and is remixed by one of the Signum members and his brother. Ron Hagen & Al-Exander service the most up to date sound with proggy beats, playful housey basslines and the unforgettable anthemic female vocal. Wait for the hair raising melody to come up back strong in the breakdown and watch the clubbers screaming and shouting something that I would love to do while I'm writing this review but its early in the morning and my voice is not the best way to wake up my neighbours. Faruk Sabanci's Tripod Mix on Centurion is another great version to blow when its on your whistles. The Turkish producer offers his delightful for the ear version that utilise in the best way the original themes mixed up with the current rocking and raving sounds. Fat basslines and booming harsh beats are merged with feel good themes with result the destructing effect on the dancefloor.   The awesome Push Through is reshaped and refashioned by Suspect 44 who turn it into a cool progressive house meets trance version. If you like Arty & Mat Zo sound you will love this for sure. Creative and clever take for sure. The last track included is Beyond This Earth remixed by the South African up coming talent Jason van Wyk. Well known for the depth of his sound and complex and rich textures he takes us on board for a warming soothing night trip somewhere Beyond This Earth.  Feel good and danceable Jason is the producer who should get more opportunity for remixes and productions. Signum Remixed is coming right at the moment that trance seems to Strike back again. Lets hope this signals the return of Signum  with original material in the near future. Highly recommended. Adore IT!
