REVIEW: Franks Bak - The Killing(Armin van Buuren remix) incl music video out on PM: AM / Zeitgeist / Universal / UV

1-Armin van Buuren remix
2-Armin van Buuren radio edit
3-Patrolla remix

BAFTA and Emmy winning cult smash TV Series FORBRYDELSEN (The Killing) has reached unprecedented success for a whole host of reasons; not least because of its unique and forward-thinking soundtrack. “Haunting and evocative” it pulsates against the brooding Scandinavian backdrop and has NOW been given an even further edge. With the helping hands of Armin Van Burren and Patrolla, Frans Bak’s original score has been revamped into a certified floor-filler that still retains the signature, baleful tones.

OUT NOW on Beatport, the remixes – released through Universal Music’s specialist dance arm PM:AM Recordings – have been met with rave reviews. Ever since Armin previewed his uplifting version exclusively on his world-renowned State Of Trance radio show, the track has echoed around clubs worldwide and over the airwaves of specialist radio - much to the enjoyment of Dance Heads in all corners of the globe.

Armin’s cut is yet another nostalgic, yet simultaneously innovative masterwork that we have come to expect from the DJ Mag professed greatest DJ in the world. The simplistic build is appreciative of prior Trance glory-years and the big room sound hits like the progressive house of the Dutch movement in 2012. So to still sustain the moving nature of Bak’s initial piece is no mean feet. The Killing can be felt through the track as if the listener is watching an episode.

Despite being a relatively fresh name on the scene, Patrolla’s take on The Killing’s score hardly pales to van Burren, as they add an imposing big beat to the natural flow of Bak’s work that still sounds relevant and undeniably refreshing. This may just be the start of big things for Patrolla, so watch this space!

The Killing initiated the 21st century sensation that is Scandinavian serials and Armin is the forerunner of the Dutch House movement. Both still riding on a wave of success, these tracks signify a great meeting of the biggest, European popular culture phenomena that are set to stay for long while.

Also, much to fans excitement, the output of these two remixes coincides with the premiere of Season 3 on Danish National TV and BBC 4. That’s not all though, the soundtrack – nearly as famous Sofie Gråbøl’s Sweaters – can be yours to own on CD and download!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The globally known TV series theme "The Killing"  gets its well concieved remix treatment to touch not only the hearts of tv maniacs but also the hearts of clubbers worldwide. The 5 times number 1 dj in the world Armin van Buuren service one of his  masterpiece remixes as he is the most obvious choice to transform the brilliant haunting original into a powerful energetic peak time club trancer perfect to rock the clubs and move masses of trancers in huge stadiums and festivals worldwide. From all the EDM styles, without doubt trance is the most atmospheric and cinematic that combines mysticism and mystery with tough banging beats, energetic sharp basslines and great melodic themes that carry away the human soul to higher levels of consciousness and understanding of this world. The breakdown is the perfect excuse to let your mind free for a while to build your own filmic mental images. The great melody along with the ambient atmosphere, the cool percussion and the humming dark vocal raise the track to the next level. Watch out for the crowd reactions when the blippy synthy theme is revealed just before the climax that is dynamic, epic and hands in the air perfect to smash the clubfloors without second thought. Absolutely stunning make over for sure. Armin van Buuren at his best. Second fantastic mix on the breaks EDM style is Patrolla remix. Blissful, dreamy, travelling, tranquilising will relax your senses and help you escape for a while. Top Package of stunning versions. Love IT!
