REVIEW: Rex Mundi - Bella Monaco E.P. out on Coldharbour/Armada Music

1.Bella Monaco (Original Mix)
2.Mence (Original Mix)
3.Steaming Waterfalls (Original Mix)

Always a highlight of Coldharbour’s release schedule, label favorite Rex Mundi rounds off their appraised summer 2012 output with three tracks which have been arguably the most awaited for quite some time. But we have come to expect this level of quality from Mr. Boy Hagemann for a while now.

Debuted on Markus Schulz’s opening episode of the Global DJ Broadcast Ibiza Summer Sessions season, Bella Monaco immediately became the talk of the trance community; simply because of its exemplification of the beauty we regard to summertime. Perfect for those early moments in a liveset, or for simply cruising along in your car, Bella Monaco has had quite a cast list of support, with not only Markus declaring it as the official GDJB 2012 summer anthem, but multiple plays from Armin van Buuren on A State of Trance, and Ferry Corsten on Corsten’s Countdown.

As Miami flocked to Space’s infamous Terrace to celebrate Markus Schulz’s birthday in February, he rewarded them with the first ever play of Mence - a dark, twisted bassline which pointed to the audience that they would be in for a late finish. Much like Bella Monaco, Mence is perfect foil for a set opener or early play, and has also become one of the most requested Global DJ Broadcast tracks throughout the summer.

Last but not least, Steaming Waterfalls will draw comparisons to Opaque (from Rex’s previous Coldharbour E.P. release), but with elements that boast the beautiful summer vibe as its companions. All three combined suggest that this may be Rex’s biggest Coldharbour release to date, and when you consider his achievements of the past, that is quite a testament to its quality.

Coldharbour says goodbye to summer 2012 in grand fashion. It has been worth the wait.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Coldharbour is one of the hardest working record labels delivering nearly every week something fresh and very exciting as well. Its the time to return back to the roots of melodic uplifting progressive trance with the latest EP by Rex Mundi. If you check out the social media are flooded with positive comments about the title track of this fantastic EP called Bella Monaco. Sweet, dreamy and travelling is what we name as proper melodic trance without too much experimentation's. The melody does the talking and can touch you deeply indeed. Mence is a real  power blaster with deep and driving basslines, great percussion, hypnotic atmosphere and superb dark synths that are revealed in a way that push the whole track forward and with closed eyes thousands of mental images pass by. Close your eyes to see them coming Alive and Kicking in front of you. Without long breakdowns is a real trance beauty that make you love even more electronic dance music. Last track on this must have EP is Steaming Waterfalls. The title reveal a hint of what you can expect in it. Tribal drum beats, very energetic basslines that add extra body to the track.  Upon them the master Rex Mundi decorates it with warm emotional melodies and epic themes that in his great breakdown are presented in their full glory. When the balearic balearic beat kicks back nobody will stand still as the therapeutic melodies will fall upon your body like the steaming waters of the sonic Waterfalls. Pure proper deep trancers to raise our consciousness just a little bit higher. Love IT!
