“The Essential mix, as far back as I remember, has always been the ultimate mix show. I did the original GOA mix back in the day and I toured as the resident Essential mix DJ in ‘99 so I’ve got a long history with the Essential mix – having recorded over 30 of them over the years.
So I’m really excited to announce my first Essential mix in 5 years – this weekend on BBC Radio 1. I’ve called it Fluorescence – as the sound of the mix is inspired by the sound of my underground label Perfecto Fluoro.
I wanted to make something really special for you guys – to take you on a real journey – and this mix is it. It’s been a few months work to put it together and it’s packed with not only great melodic music but also samples from film, radio, speech and other audio sources.
I hope you are going to like it and enjoy it as much as I did putting it together.”
