REVIEW: Richard Durand vs. The World EP 3: North America out on Magik Muzik

1. Paul Oakenfold & Richard Durand - Crashed
2. Richard Durand featuring Huge Euge - Signs (Richard Durand vs. The World Collab Mix)
 3. Richard Durand featuring Leah - Stand Again

Richard Durand presents the third installment in his Vs. The World project, this time with the winner from the North American leg of the competition: Huge Euge. The EP features the titles “Crashed”, “Signs” and “Stand Again” featuring the vocals of the lovely Leah.

The opener of the EP, “Crashed”, is a collaboration with the legendary Paul Oakenfold; the man who inspired many of his now fellow DJs like Tiësto to pick up the turntables and follow in his footsteps. Here Oakenfold teams op with Richard Durand for “Crashed”: an undeniable Durand track, but with the clear ‘Oakey’ influences taking things up a notch. One that has future classic written all over it.

“Signs”, the track that was sent out to the masses for Richard’s Vs. The World project this time, comes from American DJ/Producer Huge Euge with a nod and a wink from Durand himself. Huge Euge is an electronic music DJ and Producer hailing from New York City. Within the last 2 years, Huge Euge has skyrocketed from being a virtually unknown DJ to being one of today’s hottest rising stars thanks to major support from EDM blogs, as well as playing many large-scale events at NYC venues. He has played alongside some of the biggest names in electronic dance music including opening sets for Robbie Rivera, R3hab, Dirty South, Bassjackers, Tim Mason and others. Today, Huge Euge spends his days producing music, cultivating his personal style and developing his professional sound.

The third and last track of the EP, “Stand Again”, features the vocals of Leah. Her voice still sends shivers down the spine of many with her appearance on Andy Duguid classics like “Wasted” and “Don’t Belong”. On “Stand Again” we hear the other sound of Leah, working her way through Richard Durand’s powerful backing track, leaning on a complex arrangement that gives way for a big and harder tech trance sound.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The finest trance dj, producer and label owner strikes back with the next instalment of his quest to find the best talents and collaborate with them from all over the globe. His next stop in his mission is North America and Richard Durand presents his massive Vs The World EP 3 including 3 massive tracks that will be loved by many djs all over the globe. First of all is his phenomenal collaboration with the trance legend Paul Oakenfold. The fruit of their hard work in the studio is the anthemic  Crashed. Big fat rocking beats on the classic uplifting trance style that Paul is supporting for so many years. Energetic and powerful Crashed is an adrenaline charger that will push many clubbers to their limits. Phenomenal breakdown with melodic theme to die and full on climax with some psy trance edges too. The result can only be witnessed on the dancefloor when clubbers will be totally crashed and smashed after dancing intensively with it. The best surprise in this EP is Richard's collaboration with the sensitive, fragile and sweaty voice of Leah for the exceptional Stand Again. Empowering and very encouraging lyrics performed in the finest possible way from Leah who has that ability to transfer to the listener her feelings and emotions of the lyrics and the situations she sings about. The backing track is the best you can get with solid, rounded and manic tech trance beats ready made for the big rooms. Ultra large main theme in the breakdown will bring the ultimate euphoria. Last but not least is his collaboration with the new talent from North America Huge Euge for the track signs. Absolutely stunning production that is pure underground tech trance sound on the classic power Dutch sound. Fat slamming beats with rough basslines and some euphoric riffs in the breakdown but with techy chunky style that will keep you grooved and hooked till you can get no more. Love IT!
