"Shape of Berlin" is the third single taken from the highly acclaimed Wellenrausch debut album "Personal Epos".
After "Sanctified" and "Everybody loved" Wellenrausch are proving once again that they are a sure bet for tension and release, for dark and light.
Being already a peakpoint in every Wellenrausch live set, "Shape of Berlin" shows yet another side from Wellenrausch, but still containing their unique sounds and arrangements. In the full club version the original sound of the Berlin S-Bahn can be heard in the intro. And it sets the train a-rolling, taking the audience on a journey, passing by "the shades of unseen" and finally blasting into "lights in a scream".
No less than three breathtaking remixes accompany this homage to the Wellenrausch homebase: Silva's Tribute To Berlin comes along as mysterious as can be, almost like walking along that fine line where a dream is reaching into reality.
Basil o'Glue keeps it rocking, delivering an unstoppable and haunting version and proving once again that he's truly a master of his art.
Berlin based Producer/DJ Enoh extracted the essence out of the track and turned it into an incomparable and uncompromising piece of pure power.
Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the finest EDM albums of last year was of course Wellenrausch album Personal Epos on Afterglow records part of Alliance music. Afterglow celebrates this year its 10th anniversary and certainly this single is one of the highlights of this very special year for this loved and trusted record label. Wellenrauch after months of speculation reveal the next single taken from this highly influential album and is of course the magical Shape of Berlin. Wellenrauch with this warm progressive trancer capture in my opinion the bright but also the dark side of the multicultural city of Berlin in the finest way. They succeed with the colours of deep progressive trance and the dark and mysterious male vocals to represent with the art of music the life in the city that they inhabit. What really stands out is that the deep and cold first part is transformed after the breakdown into a hopeful blissful melodic journey. The release includes some stunning remixes that you can not afford to miss. Firstly the Coldharbour artist Basil O Glue composed a version that already by many fans is tipped as one of the best deep progressive trance remixes of the year. You can expect the deep, dark, haunting and sinister cinematic atmosphere that Basil O Glue uses as trademark sound with great twist after the breakdown when the colourful rays of melodies add a more optimistic tone like the lights on the dark and long tunnel that shows the way out. The quality level is really high on the superb Silva’s Tribute to Berlin Mix. If you like deep minimal trance with jazzy touches this version will satisfy you completely with its ambient dubby influences and the relaxed feeling. Long breakdown with ethereal atmosphere and additional piano melodies add a totally different dimension for the original track. Perfect track for lounge or chill out compilations. Last but not least Enoh offers the big room trance version that stays faithful to the dark and mysterious feel of the original. His version stands out with its intensity, dynamism, energetic drive and amazing playful synthy riffs on top. Superb use of the vocal that in this remix sounds very different from the original as well. The breakdown is perfect to tease and please the audience with its uplifting riffs that slowly revealed in order to get them excited and ready for the main part that is full on and rocking. Overall is a package that covers wide variety of trance styles and will bring new breed of fans for Wellenrausch quality trance sounds. Love IT!
