1-Solarity - Apricots
2-Solarity - Stellwagen
3-Solarity - Microtones
Whichever guise they take on, Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman continue to make an impact on the electronic music world. Following a Pete Tong Essential New Tune Contender with their recent Dusky release “Lost Highway”, the boys return to their familiar Solarity moniker, which has recently seen them garner attention from the likes of Eric Prydz and Laurent Garnier.
Meandering through a sonic landscape of unique sounds, “Apricots” is a hypnotic, intoxicating melodic tech gem. With rolling bass and a warm reverberating lead, "Apricots" unwinds beautifully - washing over you in waves of smooth funk.
The deepest of the trio, “Stellwagen” unites a rich timbre of percussion with classic house grooves and robust synthesisers for an emotive underground sound.
“Microtones” once again displays Solarity's diverse command of electronic sounds. Progressive synth riffs support a melodic techno groove, while a falling pitch lead plays above a textured bottom end.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The always reliable progressive sublabel of Anjunabeats that is ready to reveal the 4th volume of its highly successful compilation presents the brand new EP by Solarity. Anjunadeep proudly brings 3 tracks with exciting titles that in a way represent the sounds that you are going to hear. Apricots is a superb slice of progressive house with techno influences as well. Just think the taste you have in your mouth when you eat an Apricot. Its sweet but sometimes bitter or sour particularly if they are not ready yet. So in the same way you can expect a blissful tasty journey satisfying with beautiful smells like Apricots. Stellwagen doesn't mean something for me so I was ready to hear everything and as it seems you will love its percussion that gives you the sense of watching them playing it live somewhere in the snowy park. The beat is cold and mechanic but some vocodered voices, warm melodies and old school playful electronic sounds will warm you up for sure like the first warmth you get in the cold day from a hot and spicey cup of your favourite exotic flavoured tea. Microtones brings to my mind biology, chemistry and at the end of the day EDM music compositions as well. Imagine looking through a microscope the blood cells fighting against the infected cells trying to keep your body healthy. In the same way Microtones fight the fatigue of our body and give you that needed extra positive vibrations you need to have a nice and long clubnight! Quality all the way! Love IT!
