REVIEW: Airwave - Atlas Winds/Chiricahua out on LCD recordings

1 - Atlas Winds - Original Mix
2 - Chiricahua - Original Mix

Following last years Hello World, its showtime for another side of the man, returning back to his early roots, long before 1999 psychedelic tainted music.

2012 will mark the big return of Airwave on all fronts, finally showing all of his sides. Atlas Winds is a monster, based on the roots and soul of psychedelic progressive and trance, with a subtle taste of progressive house. The Mecca driven vocal combined with the overwhelming intensity of the relentless rhythmic textures will send you to space. Dramatic pads will make you believe again in a style thats now rising from its ashes.

On the flipside we have another cracker, Chiricahua, named in memory of the Apache tribe. An 80?s inspired cinematic Intro with a strong zen attitude before the breaks kick in and guide your biorhythm. Add a good fix of acid and synth leads and arps on top of that, and you get the perfect definition of how progressive breaks anno 2012 sounds like.

This new EP is not only a game changer for Airwave, but for a whole scene in demand of new sounds, new territories, looking for a fix with a rediscovered passion for music.
This release finally sets the tone for a new emerging label, born in the minds of two icons of the scene: John 00 Fleming and Airwave.

Dimitri Kechagias review: LCD recordings is a label that you should always check out because of its high quality output so far.  Its owners are the two trance icons Airwave and John 00 Fleming  that guarantee that each and every single release will stay close to the true meaning of what really Trance is of course. Airwave stands out once again with these epic smashers perfect to press play and escape into their magical soundscapes. For me exactly this is the true meaning of trance music. I would love to close my eyes and get transferred straight away to other places and let my imagination free. Aiwave beauties are going to do right and exact that in the finest way. Chiricahua is an awesome breaks track that will leave you speechless and making you think about it for hours after hearing it once. Pure cinematic sonic adventure of the highest and purest sense. It starts will an exceptional intro of ethnic samples and ambient noises before the breakbeat is unleashed. Upon that tranquil environment he decorates it with heavenly style voices and ethnic vocals along with acid overtones to build the intensity and offer the track that needed drive. In the small breakdown the Indian influenced melody is coupled with goddess style vocals but very soon the breakbeat returns even larger and more demanding. Its the kind of track that you expect to hear it at the beginning or an end of a dj set but I would love to hear it on a movie or tv series or documentary soundtrack as well. The 2nd track is called Atlas Winds and starts with mysterious hypnotic melodies and ethnic sacred vocals from India. Very soon the progressive beat comes in and the track slowly starts its magical journey with psy trance influences being evident that work perfectly along with all the elements of that awesome piece of high quality electronica sounds. Absolutely essential item for any trance fan out there particularly for those who would like to get a taste of what really Trance should be and what state of mind should create to the listener.
