REVIEW: Faruk Sabanci - Oriental Sentiment out on Black Hole

1. Original Mix
2. Nurettin Colak Remix

Faruk Sabanci makes his debut on the Black Hole imprint with his new single “Oriental Sentiment”.

The Turkish DJ/Producer has been active in the industry for quite some time and he already started DJing in 2001. Over the years he started his own record label called Harmonic Breeze Recordings and he had is best moment so far when Paul van Dyk hammered his hit single “Leaving Ankara” at the Trance Energy main stage in 2009. Faruk has delivered many, many singles and now drops his first release on Black Hole Recordings. “Oriental Sentiment” says it all and offers an incredibly elaborate composition that could have been arranged for a complete orchestra. Clearly inspired by the music of his own culture, “Oriental Sentiment” follows the typical oriental key changes in melody to make it a mystical track altogether, but with a stunningly powerful use of synths, strings and percussion and a painstaking eye for finesse. The end result is an incredibly powerful, big and melodic trance track of truly epic proportions.

Faruk’s good friend and fellow producer Nurettin Colak took care of the remix and managed to wrap the original melody line into an almost classic sounding early Magik series track with a nod and a wink to the sound of Tiësto. Nurettin’s remix has a clear focus on the dance floor and adds a bit more tech to the original version. To conclude with Faruk Sabanci’s own words: “Trance was the only genre that provided me with all the elements i was looking for: classical composition, melody combined with electronic instruments and fast rhythms.” And that’s in a nutshell exactly what we get with this beauty of a single!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Black Hole recordings is at the forefront of the music industry and its fantastic team of sound experts knows better than anyone else what the dancefloor needs to get burn. So its a great idea to invite the Turkish talent Faruk Sabanci to drop his latest track Oriental Sentiment that is an absolute cracker. Its title Oriental Sentiment sums it up quite well for me. Quality progressive trance electro trance beats coupled with oriental percussion and melodies from the Middle East culture as well. So get ready for a magic carpet ride as our captain provides a beautiful track to escape for some minutes for anything that worries us. Particularly the breakdown is really exceptional as it sounds like coming out from a Hollywood Blockbuster movie where Middle East melodies are combined beautifully with Western classical music. The main part is very uplifting and full on to take us far and away. I can imagine it easily becoming the soundbed for an advert about Turkey or in a National Geographic documentary as well. On the other hand Nurettin delivers a very cool alternative that sounds faster, more driving, uplifting  and big room as it focus more on the euphoric elements and plays around with the oriental melodies. Two top versions of High Class Trance! Love It!
