Interview with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike at Tomorrowland 2011

We were there again! Video interviews at Tomorrowland festival in Belgium which took place over the 3 days, from 22nd to 24th of July, and in my opinion, changed the world of festivals as we know them. So from now on we can compare open air festivals before Tomorrowland and after Tomorrowland! If you think that I’m exaggerating and I’m completely biased, just consider the advantages of this festival. a) For 3 days the cream of the finest DJ’s and artists from a wide variety of all the known and popular electronic dance music genres were represented. b) It is organised among some of the most beautiful scenery, in one of the finest recreational areas in Belgium and c) the various stages of the festival are decorated with a particular theme. The result is to create a particular and very unique atmosphere, every year adding something little bit extra, that means an added value that distinguish Tomorrowland from other similar events. Tomorrowland aspires to offer a total experience for the visitors, to keep them occupied and excited the whole day long.

The upcoming Belgian duo that have a considerable following within Belgium, and in global scene, reply to my questions without hesitation, and tell us through their eyes, ‘The Way We See The World’ of Electronic Dance Music at the moment.

They talk about the making of this year’s festival anthem, with the massive title: ‘The Way We See The World’ which was made with the help of Afrojack and Nervo. We ask them about the production of this year’s official Tomorrowland CD, which is mixed and compiled by them, and they reveal for first time, an unfortunate event which happened while they were trying to accomplish this task. They clearly state that it was difficult to find tracks with the ‘Anthem’ status to include on this compilation, because simply they weren’t any, except for Swedish House Mafia’s seminal track “Save the World”. They uncover all the detail around their label ‘Smash The House’ which is now handled by the very successful Dutch record company ‘Spinnin’, and they reveal details of their forthcoming releases, including their brand new personal production ‘Rej’. They share with us their feelings about DJ Tiesto; they perform before him for first time. Finally they give us some hints about where they will perform during the next few months, and where their fans around the world can expect to enjoy their dynamic DJ sets soon. It’s a lot of fun to watch.
