REVIEW:Ad Brown and James Hockley - Summer Tide out on Songbird

1. Original
2. Daniel Wanrooy Remix

Ad Brown and James Hockley teamed up for their new single “Summer Tide”, released on the Songbird imprint.

Even though the summer season on the northern hemisphere has come to an end, it still means that in the southern parts and especially around the Mediterranean, the weather is still perfect for the sun and holiday lovers. The beauty of the track is that, if you listen to it closely, actually builds up like high tide. The smooth intro that kicks in like one of those crisp ISOS productions works its way through layers of warm padded synths, ‘till we hit the majestic arrangement that makes the break. This is real Songbird label material. And when we then finally climax out of the break, Ad and James bring in the big strings. It’s just one, let’s say ‘whirlwave’, of superb trance music that will absolutely bring soul to the dancefloors.

Daniel Wanrooy reworked “Summer Tide” into a fast paced and hard tech trancer, perfect for the DJs that don’t mind delivering a rougher live set. Closing parties or not, Ad Brown and James Hockley have extended the warm days some more with “Summer Tide”!

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of my favorite progressive producers Ad Brown teams up with James Hockley to offer us Summer Tide.  It can be easily summed up as a really strong  balearic progressive trancer that manages successfully to evoke mental images or memories  that you may  have associated with summer. This very  classy composition  is a floating melodic  journey with groovy tribalish beats and what is the most important with excellent epic trance  synthy melodies that really remind us the warm summer breeze or the sound of the manic and out of control sea waves that in some cases become really huge. The breakdown is long and full of the little ambient sound details that tease the listener and builds the excitment for the well deserved climax that comes  in the main part. Its great to hear  a mainly progressive house producer to experiment with progressive trance and deliver a such a stunning result. Daniel Wanrooy from his side sharpens the beats, thickens the bassline and transforms the track into the perfect tech trance weapon that retains its melodic edge but is tough enough for the dancefloors to explode. Great package that can stand out from the rest with confidence and is another classic moment for Songbird.
