Chase The Night is the stunning new single from Toronto-based DJ/producer Jake Chec, guitarist Sy Sylver and vocalist/DJ Lizzie Curious (whose vocals are supported by the likes of Tiesto, Robbie Rivera, Cosmic Gate and George Acosta), complimented by a remix package from Black Russian, So Called Scumbags and Martin Villenevue.
Chase The Night is a slice of beautifully crafted, progressive house with strong, driving percussion and arpeggiated synth bass - with Sy Slyver's guitar licks drawing the listener in from his very first note. Evocative, sultry vocals from Lizzie Curious float over the track and conjure up a deliciously dark, seductive atmosphere, propelling the listener towards the breakdown. The haunting guitar and vocals sends shivers down your spine and creates a truly epic crescendo to this unique track, which cleverly combines EDM with voice and guitar to create an original, captivating sound.
Black Russian, who shot to fame with his summer smasher remix of La Roux's In For The Kill, has produced a remix that takes the track to a totally different, new level. In his capable hands, Chase The Night becomes a genre-defying combination of dancefloor-destroying drum and bass and the infamous 'Dutch House' sound, whilst still retaining the evocative elements of the original. On paper you may think this shouldn't work, but believe us this track has to be heard to be believed and will be rocking main-stage festivals across the world!
The So Called Scumbags (whose recent tracks and remixes have received support from Fatboy Slim, Faithless, Groove Armada and Mark Knight to name but a few) turn Chase The Night into a house track with an insanely addictive groove, sprinkling clever cuts and samples from the original over their trademark bouncy production. The powerful breakdown uses the simplicity of the haunting guitar and vocal to stunning effect and gives way into the unmistakable Scumbags groove that has every dancefloor jumping.
With a number 1 on Beatport already under his belt, Canadian Martin Villeneuve has spent over 20 years immersed in house music production and DJing and this is evident with his rolling tech-driven remix. Carefully crafted layers of percussion, synths and vocal loops are combined to great effect, whilst always leaving space in the mix for the vocals and guitar to shine through.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Fantastic release with an ultra large package of remixes ready made for worldwide domination. If you adore the epic prog house sound with drive, amazing summery melody and lovely female vocals like the luscious and sweety Lizzie Curious then this release will find its way inside your record bag digital or physical. The Original mix is driving as it should be with electro pop bassline recalling the 80’s and with that fantastic guitar melody that simply make the whole result sounding so classy and special. The remixes can not get any bigger and I face once again the usual problem of not being able easily to choose my favorite as all mixes can be my favorites. So Called Scumbags provide a tribalish classic house affair that moves and grooves with the wonderful guitar riff adding that summer never ends feeling to it. Atmospheric breakdown that simply can affect you and will contaminate you in just seconds. Martin Villeneuve Remix is big room dark and driving ready for a ride to chase the night that will never end with this track for sure. The biggest surprise in this release is the Black Russian Remix that mashups so many styles in just one track and the result really works. Drums and bass for the breakdown and squeaky playful Dutch sounds for the main climax to drive those mad cows crazier than ever before. Within the digital era that everything is produced fast and without much thought Im glad that there releases who keep the house music standards really high.
