Dimitri Kechagias review: Roger Shah manage with his albums and his label Magic Island at Armada Music to become synonimous and maybe the most important representative of the sub genre of trance named balearic or Ibiza trance with tribal grooves and beats, great relaxing melodies and overall a summery feel good vibe. Openminded is one of its finest and more mature moments in his career as he moves to variety of styles and sounds but always on his balearic trance sound. The idea to offer the chance the djs and wanna be djs the chance to get their hands in the extended versions of his album is more than welcome. In the first part there some great tracks that you can not afford to miss. First of all the superb Openminded, the title track, in its intro club mix. Classical music influences recalling film soundtracks with wobbly bubbly progressive trance beats will make many classical music purists to convert to trance for sure. Morning Star is awesome with the fantastic Moya Brennan adding her inspirational and high class voice making this one of peak moments on any balearic trance set. Hide U is already causing a mayhem in the clubland as it brings back in the best possible way one of the biggest pop dance anthems. Obsession feat. Chris Jones is a big surprise as it includes strong male vocals recalling the 80 electro pop sound. One Love featuring Carla Werner is a very sensitive and infectious warm track with vocals that touching you like silk and get under your skin very easily. Porque feat. Salma Ros uses amazing percussion, wonderful drums, balearic latin gypsy kind of guitars, anthemic melacholic melodies and spanish vocals that really bring summer love and feel good moments in your mind with top synthy riffs too. Guess feat. Nuera is a very cool travelling dreamy trancer with amazing breakdown with guitars and strings that will make you even cry as you can recall many things in your life. Summer is close to its end but this album is going to become your ultimate souvenir. A must have for any high quality seeking trance lover.
