Trance Review: Above & Beyond & Malou - Letting Go (Remixes, inc Rinzen, Drove, Club mix) out on Anjunabeats

After becoming a standout moment on their “Bigger Than All Of Us” album and a fan-favorite across their North American tour, Above & Beyond’s collaboration with rising star Malou - ‘Letting Go’ - receives an expansive remix package, seeing the track reimagined for dancefloors and deeper listening alike, with brand-new remixes from Rinzen and Drove.

Originally released in July, ‘Letting Go' was the first collaboration between Above & Beyond and German-Hawaiian singer-songwriter Malou, whose introspective, soulful vocals have helped define a new generation of emotive electronic music, having previously collaborated with Ben Böhmer and Nils Hoffmann on ‘Breathing’.

As the group’s North American amphitheater tour got underway in summer 2025, ‘Letting Go’ took on a second life. Above & Beyond debuted a powerful new Club Mix - darkening the synth palette, upping the tempo, and transforming the track into a euphoric peak-time anthem. Played across sold-out venues including Forest Hills Stadium and Shoreline Amphitheater, it has quickly become a live favourite, finally being officially released in late November.

Rinzen, the cinematic techno innovator from Los Angeles, offers a moody, spacious remix that builds a slow-burning energy while preserving the track's emotional core.
“It’s honestly a surreal feeling to remix Above & Beyond,” says Rinzen. “I’ve been listening to their music for 15 years. I absolutely love everything Malou does as well, so it’s a big honor to put my spin on ‘Letting Go.’
Drove, the forward-thinking Dutch duo known for their melodic, future-leaning productions, bring a crisp, rhythmic take that blends vocal intimacy with festival-ready energy.
“We’ve been huge fans of Above & Beyond for years now and they’ve definitely had their influence on our sound as well. After hearing Malou’s vocals on Letting Go we were hooked straight away! The song has that big, euphoric, being-pulled-to-the-edge-of-your-seat feeling that we are always chasing in our original songs, so we were dying to get our hands on the song parts”, says the duo.
“Above & Beyond and Malou were so gracious to let us have the stems to work on a version of our own, and we can’t thank them enough for this opportunity”, they continue. “We’re still pinching ourselves that this turned into an official remix! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!”

Above & Beyond and Malou ‘Letting Go’ is available now on Anjunabeats.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The remix package for “Letting Go” showcases the pinnacle of modern electronic music production, combining immaculate sound design with emotive storytelling. Each version—whether Rinzen’s cinematic take, Drove’s melodic energy, or Above & Beyond’s own 130 BPM Club Mix—demonstrates meticulous attention to rhythm, dynamics, and harmonic layering. From a technical perspective, the remixes highlight advanced production techniques. The Club Mix leverages darkened analog-inspired synths and precise sidechain compression to sculpt a dense yet breathable mix, optimized for large-scale PA systems. Rinzen’s remix, at 132 BPM, utilizes extended breakdowns and wide stereo imaging to create a sense of spatial immersion. His approach to layering filtered arpeggios with cinematic pads demonstrates professional-grade automation and multiband EQ balancing. Drove’s 128 BPM version is a study in transient clarity and low-end punch, where the kick and bass relationship is finely tuned for peak club environments, maintaining BPM consistency for seamless DJ integration. Transitions, drops, and build-ups are executed with expert precision across the package. Above & Beyond’s Club Mix features tension-driven risers with frequency sweeps that culminate in euphoric drops, while Rinzen’s remix favors a slow-burn progression ideal for deeper sets. Drove’s take balances vocal intimacy with festival-ready energy, using reverb tails and delay throws to accentuate Malou’s ethereal performance. From a wellness and mental health perspective, tracks like “Letting Go” contribute positively to mood regulation, stress relief, and physical engagement. Scientific studies indicate that listening to emotionally resonant electronic music can increase dopamine release and reduce cortisol levels, facilitating relaxation and emotional processing (Thoma et al., 2013). Furthermore, up-tempo electronic tracks in the 120–135 BPM range are ideal for fitness and dance classes, enhancing aerobic performance and promoting neuroplasticity by synchronizing movement with rhythm (Terry et al., 2020). Malou’s soaring vocal lines paired with the layered melodic hooks stimulate a flow state, which has been linked to improved mindfulness and overall psychological well-being. In wellness and group fitness settings, the remixes offer multiple applications: Rinzen’s version suits yoga or meditative dance sessions due to its hypnotic pacing, while the Club Mix and Drove’s rendition are powerful motivators for high-intensity interval training, spin classes, and dance-based workouts. Exposure to music with such harmonic richness and emotional resonance has been correlated with enhanced social bonding and positive affect in group settings (Chanda & Levitin, 2013). This remix package not only excels in sound design, creativity, and dancefloor impact but also exemplifies how electronic music can play a meaningful role in enhancing mental health, physical fitness, and human connection. #PureGold Love IT [/content]
