J Ribbon returns to Anjunabeats with 'Won't Stop'.
Progressive house producer Johnny Paul Newman signed to Pete Tong’s renowned label FFRR Records when he was just 15. Now releasing under the alias J Ribbon, the 21-year old is already making waves in the Ibiza club circuit as a UNVRS Ibiza resident DJ. Johnny is also one half of dance duo Rathbone Place, whose 2021 single 'Be Free' saw support from Mark Knight, Jax Jones, Sigala, Bakermat and Martin Garrix, as well as BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Annie Mac, Arielle Free and more.
Last year, J Ribbon made his Anjunabeats debut with 'My Habitat' as part of our Rising EP series, which saw spins from Adriatique, KREAM, Sam Divine, Don Diablo, Einmusik, Paco Osuna and beyond. The emerging talent rounded off last summer with a show at Ushuaïa opening for Armin van Buuren and D.O.D, and later dropped his thumping double A-side ‘Lens / Thalassophobia’.
J Ribbon dropped his hotly anticipated single 'Lifetime' earlier this year, which peaked at #13 in Music Week's Cool Cuts Chart and saw multiple spins on SiriusXM Diplo's Revolution. The track also received extensive Women’s EURO BBC TV coverage, and earned support from Nora En Pure, Joris Voorn, Lost Frequencies and more.
Hot on the heels of his 14 week residency at UNVRS Ibiza, J Ribbon now returns to Anjunabeats with his latest floorfiller 'Won't Stop'.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]J Ribbon’s latest release, ‘Won’t Stop’ on Anjunabeats, is a 127 BPM progressive house masterpiece that showcases his exceptional growth as a producer and DJ. The track opens with a pulsating bassline layered beneath crisp, punchy kicks, immediately establishing a propulsive rhythm ideal for both club and festival settings. The meticulous attention to rhythm, groove, and drive ensures that the energy flows seamlessly, while subtle percussive elements and syncopated hi-hats enhance the momentum as the track unfolds. From a production and sound design perspective, ‘Won’t Stop’ excels through its polished harmonic layers and melodic hooks. The track features a synth-driven lead with a soaring, euphoric quality, supported by lush pads that provide depth and warmth. The transitions, drops, and build-ups are engineered with precise automation of filters, reverbs, and delays, creating a sense of anticipation that keeps audiences engaged from start to finish. The breakdown in particular is a highlight, featuring piano-like melodies that introduce a moment of reflective calm before the track launches into its climactic drop. The vocal performance complements the instrumental arrangement perfectly, adding emotional resonance and narrative cohesion. The carefully processed vocals are bright and clear, integrated with subtle pitch modulation and spatial effects that enhance the immersive quality of the mix. The track’s dynamic range and loudness balance are expertly managed, ensuring that the mix maintains clarity and punch across club sound systems and streaming platforms alike. From an experiential standpoint, ‘Won’t Stop’ has a profound effect on mental health, fitness, and wellness. Studies indicate that rhythmic music with a tempo between 120–130 BPM can enhance mood, increase motivation, and improve workout performance (Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The energizing melodies and driving beats of J Ribbon’s track make it highly suitable for activities such as spin classes, running, or dance-based fitness routines. Additionally, research in music therapy suggests that uplifting electronic music can release dopamine and endorphins, supporting stress reduction and overall emotional well-being (Thoma et al., 2013; Chanda & Levitin, 2013). ‘Won’t Stop’ is a versatile, high-energy track that excels in club settings while offering measurable benefits for mental and physical fitness. Its combination of technical excellence, emotional storytelling, and motivational energy makes it a standout release in the progressive house genre. #PureGold Love iT[/content]
