House Review: ilan Bluestone, Jonny Bluestone, EL Waves & Pieter T - Mewo Fie out on Anjunabeats

Out now on Anjunabeats: ilan Bluestone, Jonny Bluestone, EL Waves & Pieter T ‘Mewo Fie’.

It’s the honesty in both his music and personality that has made ilan Bluestone a staple in the dance and trance world for over a decade.

As an Anjunabeats stalwart, the early ‘Anthem Test’ Instagram previews of his late-night writing sessions forged an instant connection with his audience years ahead of it becoming common practice on social media platforms. He provided the audience with insight into what it’s like to be a musician, producer, and DJ in the 2010s — a sentiment echoed in his high-energy, euphoric, and melodic music that has taken him to the stages of Madison Square Garden, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and EDC.

His albums are the clearest window into his current headspace as a musician. 2018’s ‘Scars’ is a love letter to the inspirations that had informed and imprinted his early musical journey. 2021’s ‘Impulse’, a thoroughly ‘Tronce’ coming of age LP embracing the high energy club side of life post pandemic.

Completing a trilogy of ‘heart on sleeve’ LPs is ‘Ignite’, the story of an artist reigniting his creative fires after burnout in 2023.
“Touring ‘Impulse’ after the pandemic was amazing” ilan shares. “But by November 2023, I’d played 70 shows in just over a year. The constant travel took its toll, and I had to come off the road to recharge by being in the studio again, explore new sounds, and work with fresh collaborators.”
Ignite is ilan’s most eclectic project yet: 15 tracks spanning 80s synthwave, cinematic ballads, melodic progressive house and new-age electronica, all grounded by the uplifting trance that defines his live sets.
“There are darker moments on there, but ultimately ‘Ignite’ is about the emotions and experiences that spark us into life. Writing these records felt like a weight coming off my shoulders and I’m hoping they inspire others to tackle and overcome their challenges in life”.
ilan kicked off the year with opening track ‘40’ with Jasper Blunk, before releasing the title track with long term collaborators, Maor Levi and Giuseppe De Luca: marking the first time the three have collaborated on a record. Most recently, ilan teamed up with longtime friend and fellow progressive trance aficionado ALPHA 9 and vocalist H.E.A.R.T.S on ‘Paradise’.

With his album release later this month, ilan releases the fourth and final single with frequently partnered vocalist EL Waves, brother Jonny Bluestone, and new collaborator/producer Pieter T. Showcasing a slightly different edge to ilan’s production talents, ‘Mewo Fie’ is a melodic afro house track that combines ilan’s emotive talents with EL Waves' Ghanaian vocals.

ilan Bluestone’s 'Ignite' arrives on Anjunabeats on August 22 and is available to pre-order now on vinyl via the Anjuna Music Store. Check out the Ignite tour dates here: ilanbluestone.com/tour

[item value="10"] ilan Bluestone, Jonny Bluestone, EL Waves & Pieter T - Mewo Fie[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]ilan Bluestone's latest release, "Mewo Fie," is more than just a song—it's an emotional journey woven with sonic textures that captivate from the first beat. Collaborating with his frequent partner EL Waves, whose Ghanaian vocals radiate authenticity, his brother Jonny Bluestone, and new creative force Pieter T, ilan explores uncharted musical territories that push his expressive boundaries. At its core, "Mewo Fie" pulses with a warm, melodic heartbeat. The track unfolds with dreamy, flowing rhythms that seem to float effortlessly, yet beneath this ethereal surface lies a foundation of tribal grooves and deep basslines that ground the listener. The production feels like a delicate dance between the earthly and the otherworldly—each beat resonating like footsteps on a sun-soaked journey. The vocals are haunting and evocative, carrying a timeless quality that lingers long after the track ends. EL Waves' voice, rich with cultural depth, intertwines seamlessly with ilan's emotive soundscapes, creating a tapestry of sound that feels both intimate and expansive. The melodies are sun-kissed, shimmering with a golden glow that evokes images of distant horizons and heartfelt memories. What sets "Mewo Fie" apart is its ability to stir emotions without overwhelming the listener. The production process seems to have been guided by a desire to tell a story—not just through lyrics but through every note, every pause, and every subtle shift in rhythm. It's a track that breathes, inviting you to lose yourself in its dreamy, traveling essence. In "Mewo Fie," ilan Bluestone doesn't just showcase his production talents; he invites listeners into a world where music transcends boundaries and speaks directly to the heart. This is more than a song—it's a sonic embrace that resonates with pure gold. Love IT [/content]
