Leandro has just released his tracks Force and Distortion on Dylhen's imprint Pattern/FSOE. Both are supported from Aly & Fila amongst others and it sounds like the perfect opportunity to have an interview with him and talk about these tracks and his career so far. Sit back and enjoy his answers.

1-Dimitris: It would be nice to start by telling us your 3 most important achievements or goals fulfilled in your career so far that you very are proud of.

Leandro Murua: My most important goals were to have the support of great artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and to join the Soundgarden label

2-Dimitris: Why and under which circumstances did you took the decision to start DJing or producing electronic dance music?

Leandro Murua: This was mainly due to Nick Warren where I heard a great set during a pandemic, it motivated me so I bought everything I needed to produce dreaming of one day being part of one of his selections.

3-Dimitris: Can you note down the top 3 producers that have influenced your decision to get involved in the electronic dance music scene and you admire and respect them very much?

Leandro Murua: First, the one who motivated me the most at that time was Nicolas Rada, also GMJ & Matter and Gai Barone.

4-Dimitris: It would be fantastic to talk about your latest tracks Force/Distortion out on Pattern. Please tell us how these tracks came about and what was the idea behind them.

Leandro Murua: They are tracks with a lot of energy, they are part of a moment in life where one also reflects a lot of what is going on, sets of emotions where they often end up leading to productions.

Also apart from the energy, it has a very track-like groove with strong bass lines and catchy melodies that play throughout the track, with some dark and aggressive middle parts as well.

5-Dimitris: How long it took you to produce them and can u describe the production process in simple steps?

Leandro Murua: Many times thinking about a time to close a track does not make much sense, setting a date to give the closing time. I think this varies and is also closely linked to the fluidity you have at that moment on the court.

There are tracks that I can finish quickly, others that require a little more creative process.

It is also not good to force what may not be for that day.

6-Dimitris: Did you had any particular difficulties accomplishing that particular track or any specific technical challenges or obstacles that you had to overcome during its production.

Leandro Murua: Many times the most difficult thing is to ensure that the fluidity is constant, I think that more than anything the doubt is what often invades the productions of adding or removing until we end up with an idea that is already quite solid.

7- Dimitris: Which music composition software or hardware you prefer and why? What is your opinion of the latest movement to produce music with more analogue equipment and with less or without any digital software?

Leandro Murua: What I can create the tracks with currently is Ableton, you have many production elements, whether physical or digital, I think it is not linked to whether you can make a good track, the most important thing is to know how to use your software then have many vst or few da Maybe as long as you know how to get the most out of it, whether it's 2 or 3 vst, it's enough to make a great track, everything also depends on your artist's vision and what you can generate with a lot or a little of a studio.

8-Dimitris:How much time do you spend promoting yourself in your social media and you see this as essential tool for self promotion and getting bookings too? Which social media is the one that seems to work better for you?

Leandro Murua: Nowadays, much of the scope of our work is also related to social networks, it is a way to also sell your product.

I'm not one to spend a lot of time if I try to constantly generate material but sometimes I don't publish many things.

Nowadays Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook are the leaders in my opinion.

9-Dimitris: Are you happy about the quality of the tracks released in your preferred music genres? Please justify your answer with your opinion about it!

Leandro Murua: I am very happy that progressive is now subgenres like more house, techno, melodic.

There are producers who are increasingly taking the genre higher, the quality of the tracks is very good.

10-Dimitris: Please note for all the new talents that read this interview to get some inspiration from you any technical tips in relation to your DJing or music productions. Also any piece of personal or music business' advice that has helped you to progress even further and is worth telling to the new upcoming talents.

Leandro Murua: Seek first to be good with yourself, to then be able to connect more with the music and be able to flow whether on a live set as a DJ or in a studio as a producer.

Be consistent and enjoy the process.

11-Dimitris: Many producers and DJs offer online masterclasses or teach to music production & DJing courses. Do you believe is essential to take part in any of these courses to develop your skills? Are you are offering any of these services? or other related services like ghost-producing or mastering? please tell us about these activities

Leandro Murua: I currently teach production classes and also introduction to software.

Being able to transmit what I have learned over the course of these years is very good for the new generations, one also continues to constantly grow, learning either through videos on the internet or some feedback from a colleague.

Dimitris: Your message & wishes for Flux Bpm Online readers.

Leandro Murua:  I hope you can fulfill your dreams, which is not impossible, and above all, enjoy the good of every moment you have lived.
