Alex Sonata & TheRio, James Grant and Jody Wisternoff remix Darren Tate, Solarstone and Julie Scott’s anthemic track ‘A Long Way From Home’.
With a legacy in dance music spanning over two decades and multiple aliases, Darren Tate is a prolific producer with an unstoppable urge to create. The UK Top 10 charting artist recently released his debut solo album on Anjunabeats, ‘Metamorphosis’, which has racked up over 2M combined streams to date. Featuring collaborations with Susie Ledge, Marcella Woods and Robyn Sherwell, the album marks the latest chapter in Darren’s glowing career.
Trance titan Solarstone has been a pivotal artist in dance music for over twenty years. His balearic trance anthem ‘Seven Cities’ has been re-released 3 times and sold in excess of 500,000 copies, earning support from Armin van Buuren, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk and more. Scottish-born musician and vocalist Julie Scott is a former member of the accomplished Dutch band Mizpaha and renowned jazz ensemble Dash!. She’s also worked with members of the Residentie Orchestra and, in 2008, co-wrote and recorded several tracks on Solarstone’s album ‘Rain Stars Eternal’.
‘A Long Way From Home’ originally appeared as a sought-after ID supported by the likes of Nicole Moudaber, ANNA, Joris Voorn, Hernán Cattáneo, Maceo Plex, Joseph Capriati, Carl Craig, Nora En Pure and more. Now, label mainstays Alex Sonata & TheRio deliver a trance rework of the track, alongside a chilled breakbeat take from James Grant & Jody Wisternoff.
Scottish-Italian duo Alex Sonata & TheRio rounded off last year by mixing the hotly-anticipated Anjunabeats Worldwide 11 compilation, which shot to #1 on the US iTunes Dance chart, and also dropped their ‘Feels Like Home EP’. They earned support from Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk, as well as the likes of David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Farius, Hernan Cattaneo and more on their releases in 2023 alone, and kicked off this year by embarking on their first run of international tour dates, with headline shows in San Francisco, Denver and more.
Anjunadeep co-founder and A&R James Grant and Bristolian DJ Jody Wisternoff recently mixed the latest instalment of the highly-anticipated label compilation series, Anjunadeep 15. This year’s compilation sees Jody and James curate a diverse array of melodic offerings across two expertly crafted mixes, featuring tracks by Luttrell, PROFF, 16BL, Jon Gurd and more. They also integrate favourites from Anjunabeats, including Kasablanca, anam?, Darren Tate, and ANUQRAM, and downtempo Reflections tracks from Cephas Azariah, Talee, and Omfeel, showcasing the full spectrum of Anjuna sounds.
