Greggs Tuesday night have hosted an exclusive DJ performance from acclaimed UK dance music artists, Schak and Will Atkinson, to celebrate the release of their new track with Abi Flynn: ‘Yesterday’. The performance was held “after hours” within Greggs’ iconic Northumberland Street shop during a unique “lock-in” style event, open to fans on a first-come-first-served basis. The duo made a splash by delivering a back-to-back DJ set and were joined by artist and vocalist Abi Flynn who delivered a live performance of ‘Yesterday’.
In partnership with events company Lab54, the event kicked off at 10pm and saw the Greggs shop transformed into an intimate club setting. Fans formed queues to experience the unique “lock-in” event that saw fellow British DJ and producer Charlie Boon start the night with a thirty-minute warm-up set before Schak and Will Atkinson delivered an exhilarating euro-trance inspired set led by new track ‘Yesterday’. The track was released on Friday 3rd May on Armada Music where it was selected as the coveted “Hottest Record” by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1’s Dance Party show.
This isn’t the first time Schak has performed in an unexpected “venue”, as the high-energy performer has made waves across the region in previous years with guerilla style performances on the Shields Ferry, Tyne and Wear Metro and even inside B&Q. Schak, in addition to the other artists, even donned Greggs aprons and caps to mark the occasion!
Dimitri Kechagias review: [review top="1"] [item value="10"] Schak & Will Atkinson x Abi Flynn - Yesterday[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Schak & Will Atkinson x Abi Flynn collaborate for the ultimate nostalgic feel good balearic trancer called Yesterday. The track combines sounds from the late 90's with balearic melodies and even feel good pizzicatto riffs. The breakdown unleashes some massive colorful euphoric synthy stabs along with carefree piano chords merged perfectly with the pop touched female vocals with soulful and radio friendly tone. The result is a record that can be played again and again and not getting bored from it even for a second. Already championed by the beloved BBC Radio 1. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Greatly inspired by his Newcastle roots, Schak’s music is influenced by the distinctly Northeast sound of music subculture Makina; an energetic blend of happy hardcore, scouse house, donk, and rapid-fire MC-ing. Schak’s music also provides a cathartic outlet for ravers and invokes a deep sense of community that he continues to project in his artistry. 2023 has already been huge for Schak, with highlights including his legendary Mixmag Lab stream that treated a ballistic crowd to his second single “Inferno” and performing an official halftime set before the historic Newcastle United vs. Southampton game at the Carabao Cup in St James’ Park. Continuing his upward trajectory, the producer enjoyed a busy summer of Ibiza dates, alongside Patrick Topping and Calvin Harris, in addition to performances at festivals like Creamfields, Nass, Hideout, and more.
Abi Flynn is a UK based soul/rnb music artist, vocalist and topliner. Abi has made ripples in the UK soul/jazz scene for many years, supporting the likes of Funkadelic, Roy Ayers, Soul II Soul and more. Her upcoming debut album was created throughout her journey with cancer in her twenties and brings life and soul to finding beauty within a adversity.
Her most recent success, however, has been found in the commercial house and dance music world. As the mystery voice behind platinum selling global hit 'Believe Me' (Navos), silver-selling ‘So Much In Love’ (D.O.D) and countless other chart hits, Abi's smooth, melodic vocals and irresistibly catchy toplines have taken the dance world by storm.
Abi’s next chapter will be focused on bringing together these two sides of her artistry, telling her story and bringing her gifts to the world in a way that impacts.
