Trance Review: Darren Tate & Solarstone feat. Julie Scott - A Long Way From Home out on Anjunabeats

Darren Tate, Solarstone and Julie Scott collaborate on ‘A Long Way From Home’, out now on Anjunabeats.

Trance titans Darren Tate and Solarstone have been pivotal artists in dance music for over twenty years. Darren is a UK Top 10 charting producer who, in 2022, joined forces with Above & Beyond’s Jono Grant to form JODA. Released on Anjunabeats, JODA’s self-titled debut album shot to #1 on the iTunes US Dance chart and has since seen over 10 million combined streams.

Irish producer Solarstone is set for an international tour this year with stops in Poland, the Netherlands, Ibiza and Malta. His balearic trance anthem ‘Seven Cities’ has been re-released 3 times and sold in excess of 500,000 copies, earning support from Armin van Buuren, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk and more.

Scottish-born musician and vocalist Julie Scott is a former member of the accomplished Dutch band Mizpaha and renowned jazz ensemble Dash!. She’s also worked with members of the Residentie Orchestra and, in 2008, co-wrote and recorded several tracks on Solarstone’s album ‘Rain Stars Eternal’.

‘A Long Way From Home’ has been doing the rounds as a secret ID since being shared with DJs and tastemakers last October, with support from Nicole Moudaber, ANNA, Joris Voorn, Hernán Cattáneo, Maceo Plex, Joseph Capriati, Carl Craig, Nora En Pure and more. The record is a distant reach from the artists’ usual styles, but is executed with the skill and finesse of producers at the top of their game.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Darren Tate is well known for making incredible collaborations and he works beautifully with Solarstone and  Julie Scott for the fantastic A Long Way From Home. The Timeless remix is pure trance bliss with 130 BPM pulsating basslines, pumping drums, punchy kicks and superb guitar riffs, cinematic strings, warm atmosphere and excellent vocal that simply resonates with you and crawl under your skin to touch your heart and soul. Sounds and melodies recalling Seven Cities style and superb breakbeat section to calm the senses down and then the beat comes along to carry the track to its magnificent timeless climax full of magical sounds and electrifying little details. The title Timeless says it all for me and will remain Timeless. For those afterhour parties and Ibiza early mornings the Straight From Dat mix is the perfect breaks/breakbeat chilling moment with Orbital/Way Out West kind of influences. Looking forward to listen any version in a soundtrack of film or Netflix series. #PureGold Love IT [/content]
