Overall Score

Over the last two decades, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats label has launched the careers of some of the most respected names in electronic music: Andrew Bayer, ARTY, Audien, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions and Mat Zo, to name just a few. In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world.

Anjunabeats Rising has introduced over 40 new acts to the label since 2021, including 28mm, Nancie, Adz, Avenue One, Damate, Taygeto, and many more. The series is now back for its 17th volume, with new music from Mr. Sosa, Corderoy, soft centre and Alex Wright.

Bournemouth-based Mr. Sosa debuted on Anjunadeep last year with ‘Euphoria’, which featured on the label’s Explorations 19 compilation. He’s been championed by the likes of Marsh, Simon Doty and Because Of Art, and his tracks have appeared in leading editorial playlists like Spotify’s 4AM Chillout, The Loft and Altar.

Corderoy has racked up over 10 million streams across his entire catalogue. He’s earned spins from Tiesto, Nora En Pure, Sultan + Shepherd, John Gibbons, David Guetta, Judge Jules, and beyond, and has previously released on Hexagon, Armada, Perfecto, Enhanced and more.

soft centre is the brand new vocal project from Jodie Nicholson, who opened the Wilderness Festival main stage for Jamie XX and Bicep in 2021. Her tracks have featured on BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and the 6 Music playlist, as well as the annual 'Best of BBC Introducing' playlists.

Alex Wright has attracted support from icons like Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk, as well as Apollo Nash and Aly & Fia. The Nottingham-based DJ and producer has released on an array of respected labels, including Always Alive, DSR, FSOE Fables, Pure Trance and AVA White, and also runs a bi-weekly show on 1Mix Radio.

“Vora came to life while messing around with a CS-80 and eventually evolved into a heavy breakbeat rave piece. It’s been a secret weapon in my sets for a while now whenever it’s time to turn up the heat. I first teased it in my Anjuna live stream on the Jurassic coast and the requests to release it have been nonstop.” - Mr. Sosa
"I wanted to combine a thunderous, percussive groove with an atmospheric, sun-kissed breakdown to get the best of both worlds." - Alex Wright

Summary

The well known series of showcasing new talents on Anjunabeats Rising reached its 17 edition and you can expect as always 3 very varied and different tracks from promising upcoming talents. Mr Sosa in his track Vora delivers an excellent dark tripping out breaks track with exotic ethereal vocals, cinematic strings and rave infused synthy hooks to travel your mind and soul.Corderoy x soft centre collaborate for the melodic dreamy progressive beauty Start Line. With deep progressive house and trance infusions the track has driving hi-nrg synths underneath while on top the female vocal is emotionally loaded and retro infused in its performance. So will definitely please those who adore great vocal tracks with melancholic synths and relentless deep drive. Electropia by Alex Wright is a magnificent slice of modern tech infused trancer with dark thumping mainstage friendly basslines, tribal grooves and delicious breakdown blessed with Anjunabeats friendly melodies. The climax goes off the hook for the ultimate crowd jumping moment packed with punchy beats and dreamy electronic melodies. #PureGold Love IT
