Best of 2018 Interview with DJ, producer and label owner Paul Thomas

Paul’s big break was landing a residency at Birmingham’s Godskitchen and their globally-syndicated GlobalGathering festivals a decade back; a dream foundation for any aspiring DJ to build their career on. From here on his destiny as a DJ was inevitable, with global tours and critically-acclaimed compilations for the brand and for Toolroom Records all soon in the bag.

When you take a look at the impressive and varied list of labels he’s had track signed to, his production catalogue is astounding: Steve Angello’s SIZE Records, Toolroom Records, Doorn Records, Spinnin’, Ultra, Armada, Gareth Emery’s Garuda… the list goes on and on. His golden remix touch has been requested for releases by legends like Basement Jaxx, Chicane, Underworld, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Josh Wink, D Ramirez & Mark Knight, Sebastien Leger & Deadmau5, and he’s collaborated with Mark Knight, Funkagenda, Jerome Isma-Ae and Aly & Fila amongst others.

In 2017 Paul joined Aly & Fila’s ever-growing Future Sound Of Egypt roster, launching a new label with the iconic Egyptian duo called FSOE UV. The label is a contrast to FSOE’s usually uplifting trance output, delivering an underground progressive vibe, which Paul has been accustomed to throughout his career.

He’s firmly established himself as a leading name in the wide sphere of progressive house music across the globe thanks to all this, and the small matter of 14 separate Beatport genre Top 10 successes, including 4 this year alone. Lastly it should be mentioned that he played in over 60 countries around the world for major brands such as Tomorrowland, Luminosity, EDC, Ultra, Dreamstate, GlobalGathering and in 2019 he will make his first appearance at ASOT festival in Utrecht!

Dimitris: Can you mention your biggest music career achievements in 2018?

Paul Thomas: The rapid rise of FSOE UV as one of the most successful labels in 2018, and doing our own events. Playing at Tomorrowland & Luminosity for the first time. All the incredible FSOE shows we did around the world.

Paul Thomas: 9 excellent year, It's been an amazing year but there's always room to make it better.

1) Best 3 Tracks from other artists in 2018:

Paul Thomas: Bluum - Weyland. One of several incredible Bluum singles this year.
