ADE 2018: Discover some of the hidden gems at ADE Festival program

With over 150 locations for this year's ADE, there is a wide range to choose from in terms of atmosphere, size, events, etc. In addition to the larger festival venues, there are multiple smaller and cosy venues within the complete range of festival locations. For those looking for less crowded venues and who are in a need for more cosiness, ADE team have highlighted some hidden gems that participate in this year's ADE. Here's an impressive shortlist:

BRET: This building out of red-coloured sea containers in Sloterdijk can be described as "an oasis in a concrete jungle". On ADE Friday, BRET welcomes PIV for a festival night with Chris Stussy, Prunk, Sinjo and many others whereas The Tribe invites the French Collective Yoyaku on Saturday.
Café Struik: A cosy bar at the Rozengracht close to the center of Amsterdam. For this year's ADE Café Struik will host a festival event each day, varying from Charlie & Josh in the Bush on Wednesday to a Black Gold Takeover on Saturday. 

Cinetol: This creative work and rehearsal space is registered as a national monument. GIANT STEPS will be hosting three nights in collaboration with Red Light Radio, Music From Memory and Rush Hour. GIANT STEPS is a travelling sound-system orchestrated by Brilliant Corners, in collaboration with the Analogue Foundation. They aim to create an atmosphere of freedom, comfort and togetherness.

Club YOLO & The Web: Two of Amsterdam's newest LGBTQ and open-minded nightclubs who both will make its ADE debut. Club Yolo will hosts seven showcases during ADE in collaboration with Deep Sugar, Ibiza Sensations, Sound of Blackness and more. The Web will host the Women of House on ADE Thursday. This will be an event featuring only female DJs with a passion for house music with the likes of Katya Gabeli, Terri B!, Vanita and more. 

Disco Dolly: A mix between a bar and club that is open seven nights a week with and offers a variety of musical entertainment like Funk, Soul, Hip-hop, Disco and House. They will host five nights during ADE and artists such as Maurice Fulton, Bradley Zero, David Vunk, San Soda and many more will make an appearance.

HoogtIJ Amsterdam: What makes HoogtIJ unique, is the fact that it is a greenhouse situated on top of a special building next to the river the IJ. HoogtIJ will make its ADE debut with two daytime events including Likeminded with DJ Masda, Quest and KRN on Saturday and Draaimolen with Bundle of Joy (Barnt & Superpitcher) on Sunday. 

Le Nouveau Riche: Located in the heart of Amsterdam, Le Nouveau Riche is a venue that has been established in 1883. Throughout the ADE week, they will host 9 showcases in collaboration with Be As One, Halocyan Records, Purveyor Underground and more, whereas over sixty artists will perform including Joran van Pol, Kaiserdisco, Joey Beltram and many more. To round up the week they will host their own ADE closing party.

S105: S105 is an old class room situated in a former school building in the west of Amsterdam, De School. It is mostly known as the home base of the Amsterdam-based platform Subbacultcha. On Thursday, Subbacultcha invites How To Dress Well: a one-man recording project of experimental musician Tom Krell. Die Wilde Jagd will be invited on Friday.

San Francisco: The bar & club near the infamous Red Light District is known for its varying audience. On Saturday, there will be a showcase with Europe’s and Asia’s open format DJ’s at Frantastic Sounds in Little China. San Francisco is famous for the Basement Rave sessions hosted by neighbour Mary Go Wild. Last year Dubfire, Tripeo and Mirella Kroes alongside others made an appearance.

SEXYLAND: Everyday is a new day in SEXYLAND as this club has new owner every day of the year. The program can be interpreted according to its owner wishes, varying from artistic expression to dance events. Their concept has won the Dutch Culture Price of 2017. This prize is awarded to an organization that has set up something essential at the interface of culture in a positive way. Five events will take over the venue alongside with Boys Noize, Joost van Bellen, Mr. Wix, Young Marco and many more.

The Rolling Rock Kitchen: The Rolling Rock Kitchen is a hangar-style bar that was intended to be a photography studio. Nowadays an eatery where music and visual content create the vibe of the venue. DOGMA will turn this eatery in a club for two events featuring Moody Mehran, Ofra, upsammy, Woody’92 among other acts on Friday and Saturday. 

Waterkant: This venue's atmosphere is inspired by Paramaribo, the capital of the former Dutch colony Suriname. Moreover, Waterkant is known for having a waterfront sun terrace and its exotic parties. With KD on Friday and Afrolosjes on Saturday, Waterkant will present its tropical roots during ADE.
