REVIEW: Max Meyer & Novan - Alicante out on Statement! Recordings / Armada

9.1
Overall Score

Armed with a blistering amount of 'oomph' and a tidal wave of progressive wonder, Max Meyer and Novan's 'Alicante' raises the Statement! bar a few notches. Harboring the power of the Spanish summer sun with its sparkling plucks and its backdrop of soaring guitar tones, this cut goes full throttle and doesn't disappointed in the slightest.

Summary

Statement! Recordings constantly surprises us positively with great releases that stand out. Alicante is definitely one of the strong contenders for the progressive part of any dj set with cool chunky wonky dirty rough groove, punchy electro kissed basslines and most importantly truly balearic and emotional synthy lines. While the breakdown with the cool synthy themes is truly sweet with faultless soundscapes, the climax is a bit rougher and edgy with less focus on the melody and more on the groove, something that I would prefer to be more smooth out. However the final taste in your mouth is positive and balanced. Love it
