On ADE's Thursday and Friday evening ADE Sound Lab's program continues.
Thursday Night October 19th: Binkbeats debut EP release party, w/ Binkbeats, Niels Broos & special guests.
Soundwizard Binkbeats releases his highly-anticipated debut EP “Private Matter Previously Unavailable pt. 1" and celebrates with friends and ADE Sound Lab visitors.
Binkbeats previously made his mark with the Beats Unraveled series for Boiler Room, which found him translating such paragons as Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin and J. Dilla to acoustic, tangible realms. Utilizing a vast collection of instruments – ranging from vibraphone, guzheng (Chinese harp) and yes, even typewriters – Wienk rapidly gained an impromptu following. To him however, Beats Unraveled marked an exploratory phase of how to recreate certain sounds with his own instruments and gear.
Now composing his original material, he began stretching his sonic purview beyond just his vast array of percussion, and completely disregarding any parameters. As a matter of fact, the first creative spark arose by bringing harmonics and voice into the mix. As a result, Binkbeats has become Wienk's beautiful limbo where his influences bleed into each other freely, intuitively and fearlessly.
On stage, Binkbeats performs his meticulously detailed compositions in a dazzling live setup, using over fifty instruments and allocating all four limbs like a spider in it’s web.
Also on stage for a solo liveset, his good friend and contributor to the EP, Niels Broos. The crazy talented synth player signed with Alpha Pup records after attending the RBMA's in Montreal last year. Niels has been a great assett to The Kyteman Orchestra and Jameszoo quintet, but now unleashes his own jazz infused future beats.
In between their live sets there will be DJ sets by 2 special guests whose names will remain unannounced until the very night.
Friday Night October 20th: Edison Jams presents: Modular Sessions at ADE Sound Lab.
Edison Jams: Nerdy people doing cool things. Cool people doing nerdy things.
Five synthesizer obsessives meet each other for an improvised session. An experiment in sound without rules by modular whiz kid Sjamsoedin and friends. Expect the unexpected!
Sjamsoedin
Sjamsoedin has been messing around with electronic instruments for two decades which culminated in building his own modular system a few years back. He’s toured the world with several bands and collectives, never losing his passion for the music, always using the technology to serve the dancefloor and the groove.
Kypski
DJ/producer Kypski started out as a sixfold Dutch scratch-champion, but eventually followed his heart, and entered the realms of sound design, song writing and producing. The turntable is his main instrument, on which his thirst for innovation and the new is expressed.
Now, he is building his modular system wich enables him to scratch any parameter of the modular with his melodic turntable, and improvising new musical pieces on the spot while doing so.
Patrick Detampel & Ashley M Puente
Born in 1980 Patrick had his first contact with electronic music on a Commodore 64 and the software Soundmonitor in the age of 7. Having gathered a lot of keyboard and desktop based synths, sequencers and drum machines in the early 2000s, most of it was exchanged for Eurorack modules later on. He now works for SUPERBOOTH and as a product specialist for Alex4 Distribution.
Perpetual Ash (USA) Ashley M Puente is a performer, improviser, and visual artist playing on Eurorack modular and other electronics currently residing in Berlin. Her music and visual artwork are both inspired by the 60's and 70's light and space movement that emerged in California. She records with the intent to capture the active nature of light and atmosphere by creating a soundscape of noise, bass, and rhythmic feedback patterns.
Obtrude
In the early 2010s, Obtrude started putting together a modular synth. After years of meticulous experimentation he developed his own fearsome and dark sound, which he recently started performing live on his hardware setup. His sound is continuously evolving, dragging together the industrial techno world and experimental electronic music. Open ended improvisation to the structures of dance floor ready techno, no set is ever the same, thus making every performance a unique experience for the listeners.

The Festival Hangout at De Brakke Grond (Nes 45) is open from ADE's Wednesday through till Saturday from 10 am onwards, and is located at the very heart of Amsterdam just 10 minutes away from Amsterdam Central Station.
ADE Sound Lab is run in cooperation with Creative Industries Fund NL and VSB fund supporting the Festival Hangout.
