ADE 2016: New Amsterdam club Shelter announces ADE program

On the 20th of October Shelter will celebrate its official international opening. Located on the IJ river bank, opposite from the historic city center, Amsterdam’s youngest nightclub will welcome visitors to its four-part ADE program. The venue, which has been granted a 24-hour license by the Amsterdam municipality, will play host to traditional house and techno, as well as more progressive and unconventional sounds. This identity is clearly defined through Shelter’s ADE schedule, which ranges from a night with Glaswegian force of nature Jackmaster to showcases with highly regarded curators Clone Records and Semantica.

Tucked away underground, right below Overhoeksplein - the square upon which the recently opened A’DAM Toren is built - the club offers room to over 700 visitors. Next to a compelling and diverse musical curation, other cornerstone features of Shelter lie in the close attention given to sound quality and interior design. Visitors can expect a nightclub that is on the vanguard of club technology and innovative use of space.

Shelter’s organization consists of general manager Merijn van den Heuvel (Club AIR Amsterdam), creative director and booker Kolja Verhage (Club Trouw, LET), and marketing and communications manager Milan van Ooijen (Deep House Amsterdam).

ADE Program
For the Amsterdam Dance Event, Shelter has rolled out a four-night program featuring a balanced yet idiosyncratic offering of events and programming. Kicking things off on October 20th is Jackmaster Presents Mastermix, a night hosted by the Numbers co-founder and #5 in Resident Advisor’s DJ Top 100. Headlining next to Jackmaster is Detroit’s sonic evangelist Moodymann. Invited too are local house maestros Tom Trago, De Sluwe Vos and William Kouam Djoko, as well as fellow Glaswegian Jasper James.

On the second night, October 21st, Shelter co-hosts a night with Clone Records. Next to label founder Serge, the imprint is represented by longtime label contributors I-F, Legowelt, DJ Stingray, and Project Pablo.

Lined up for Saturday, October 22nd, are a selection of key contributors from Madrid-based techno institute Semantica for their ten year anniversary Diez. Catering to the deeper desires of electronica fans this night are Italian duo Voices From The Lake (Donato Dozzy & Neel), Peter van Hoesen, Marco Shuttle, Svreca and SHLTR.

Sunday, October 23rd, will be in the hands of Dutch veteran Joris Voorn, who will be playing an extended show, right after the opening set of a celebrated local artist.
