Following exceptional reviews for her album ‘Hairless Toys,’ a sold out tour, an A-listed single at 6Music and a run of thrilling, self-directed videos - Róisín Murphy announces the sublime six track remix package for new single ‘Evil Eyes’.

Casting an elastic thunder of ruff punk bass against explosions of mirrorball glamour, prophet 5 cloud busters and groovy incantations, ‘Evil Eyes’ is 21st century boogie.  A smart, clever funk abstract laced with Chic guitars, this single demands a catwalk.

Released via Play It Again Sam on July 31st, ‘Evil Eyes’ arrives as a six track remix package, opening with two cuts from groove compadres Hercules & Love Affair who bounce up the disco in their shimmering lead remix before wrapping us in a clattering space haze for the Hercules & Love Affair Dub.

Deep house shaman Claptone twists Roisin’s vocals into a spectral haunt, soaring above a dark belly of thick, dancefloor hedonism before Polish duo Catz ‘N Dogz chop her vocal layers into sparse tech-house shapes. Finally, Nico De Ceglia and Horse Meat Disco’s Severino join forces, lifting the original to cosmic heights thanks to shifting basslines, polka dot drum samples and transcendental waves of voice.

Her first album in 8 years, Hairless Toys has been lauded as a “career high” (Mixmag) and “a remarkable comeback” (NME). Sonically adventurous with peerless production from long time collaborator Eddie Stevens, the album embraces a broad palette of genres yet is consistently engaging and thrilling throughout.

‘Evil Eyes’ arrives with the second self-directed video by and starring Róisín.  A visual feast of crystalline glamour and dark, theatrical subversion its focus is the crumbling psyche of a wife and mother, dealing with the claustrophobia of expectation and duty that eventually consumes her.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The beloved artist Roisin Murphy is back with her magnificent new single Evil Eyes. This top electronica meets jazz record with laidback grooves and hypnotic atmosphere is remixed by some of the coolest names in the deep house scene. Claptone with the mysterious personality service a very strong pounding deep house alternative that is very danceable and highly effective on the dancefloor. Techy drums, deep haunting basslines, electronic synths, cinematic strings, wobbly melodies and great application of the outstanding vocals. Catz and Dogz remix starts with long intro and superb tribal drums, pulsating basslines, and old school rave infused organ riffs. The vocal sounds so travelling and dreamy perfect for this long and emotional Odyssey. Severino and Nico De Ceglia remix is moving on the deep house direction with bubbly basslines, chunky grooves, funky jazzy instrumentation and even some cool trancy synthy hooks and electronica riffs. Last but not least Hercules and Love Affair deliver their well known very personal sound that is moody but very danceable with minimal instrumentation and 80's electro pop atmosphere. Overall is a wonderful package that highlights the strengths of Roisin Murphy voice. #PureGold Love It
