REVIEW: Djuma Soundsystem - Orange Crayon EP Including Atapy & Alex Dimou Remix out on Subjekt

Copenhagen based Djuma Soundsystem delivers his first release on Subjekt Recordings, complemented by two outstanding remixes, making sure that ‘Orange Crayon’ becomes a notion within Tech House.

Despite the fact that Alex Dimou and Atapy chose an approach similar to the original, all versions excel in their own respective areas. Alex Dimou’s version features some beautifully distorted synth, while Atapy’s remix is more melodically oriented. Both remixes, combined with the iconic original,  make sure this release will keep you satisfied for some time to come.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Subjekt recordings is the awesome electronica record label from Amsterdam that makes the difference and always manage to stand out with releases that matter. The latest release is the brilliant Orange Crayon by Djuma Soundsystem. The original mix is a ten minutes deep house journey with electronic synths, cinematic strings and great mysterious sci-fi noises that build this magnificent sonic soundscape that you visualise in your mind while you dance and shake your hypnotised body on the dancefloor. The dirty synthy riff is very memorable and infectious for sure. Its a mind trip that you better experience and change your life for ever. Atapy delivers his own translation which is equally dark and moody with minimal synthy melodies and haunting themes that add the melodramatic epic edge to the final result.  Hypnotic, spacey and mind absorbing will be difficult not to stand still when this beauty slowly unfolds and blooms on the dancefloor. The Greek talent Alex Dimou transforms the original into a very danceable experience with additional distorted vocals and eclectic interpretation that manages to build the tension throughout and keep your mind wondering in the deep labyrinth that you don't know where exactly will lead you. #PureGold Love it
