REVIEW: Giddy - Felicity out on VANDIT records

01: Felicity (Original Mix)
02: Felicity (Radio Edit)

It’s been a fair while (alright, too long!) since we’ve heard some profound sounds from the studio of Canada’s Giddy. The producer last left his mark on VANDIT’s burgeoning discography with ‘Halcyon’ - a track that garnered a host of big name DJ support and made short work of putting the spark into early 2014’s dance floors!

Tangibly, ‘Felicity’ picks up right where ‘Halcyon’ left off. A track hooked on harmonics, up top its trance & progressively orientated, while down in the engine room there’s the casual but impossible-to-miss rumble of house a-happening!

Giddy’s second for VANDIT might lie on the more cooler side of the Berliners’ output, but fool-yourself-not, ‘Felicity’s no top-tapper or straightforward head-nodder! With a feisty tempo, rolling drums and a marked groove to its bass, higher up the scale it fields echoing pianos, warm, savannah-evoking chords and ether-inducing pads. Slowly, surely, inexorably ‘Felicity’ builds the atmosphere before pulling the curtain back on its big sunrise riff!

If you happen to be in the Caribbean, hey, you probably don’t need ‘Felicity’. Anywhere else (and you could do with a few rays of the warm stuff), she’s out now and ready to assist!

About Giddy:

Since the age of 15, Giddy has been working within local, and global clubs, DJ’ing and opening for various international DJ’s, continually striving for a larger and greater experience.

Spending multiple seasons in Ibiza, Spain, ultimately pushed Giddy to further invest himself and his music into the electronic music scene, and by working with the highly respected club Amnesia, it shed a completely new light on how Giddy would like to continually strengthen and expose his career path.

Creating a collective visual and audible experience for crowds is the ultimate goal, and as each year, show, and song ends, it ultimately brings Giddy a step closer towards a career within the electronic music industry.

Making his debut with ‘Stanza’ on Burner Records back in 2010, more recently Giddy’s been coproducing with regular studio compadre Jamie K. That union’s seen them ink tracks to labels as varied as Holland’s Black Hole Recordings (with ‘We’ve Come So Far’ & ‘Veritas’) and the UK’s Toolroom, with 2013’s ‘Barrage’.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Paul van Dyk's magnificent label Vandit records presents the latest anthem in the making that will dominate the international floors the coming months. The ubber talented Giddy service the excellent Felicity. The track will please the fans of the new age progressive trance sound that is represented by star producers like Ilan Bluestone or Genix. The track is very versatile/crossover progressive trance meets house production with chunky techy grooves, bubbly electrified haunting basslines and stunning breakdown with ethereal female voices, piano melody that give you instantly goosebumps and superb build up towards the exceptional full on hands in the air euphoric climax that is energetic and prime time to the bones. Heavy punchy basslines, feel good colorful synths and plenty of electronic melodies and sunny kissed themes to remind us that summer is not so far away and we can wait patiently for it by dancing with Felicity. I can imagine Miami WMC going crazy with it! #PureGold Love It
