REVIEW: Aerium - Horizons incl Dan Stone & Solarstone retouch mixes on Touchstone recordings

Leander Rispens’ releases are infrequent, but always worth searching out. The Dutch producer has previously released on Solarstone’s Electronic Architecture series as well as labels like Bonzai, Solaris & Unearthed. ‘Horizons’ in its ‘Original Mix’ format is a warm & emotional yet understated ride through the sound of organic, Balearic trance music. Leading the charge of this package though is Dan Stone’s storming 138bpm uplifting remix, which featured as an ID in Solarstone’s FSOE350 NYC set, causing a flurry of interest. Also included is Solarstone’s own ‘Retouch’ that originally featured on the Pure Trance Vol. 2 album (in edited form & now here in full length) and wrapping up this bundle is a neat nu-skool breaks interpretation from Bangladesh’s Nafeu Nasir aka Phrakture.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The beloved record label Touchstone recordings continues to deliver the goods and giving trance music a good name. The first release for 2015 is the excellent Horizons by Aerium. The track is included already on Pure Trance vol.2 but is never released in its full length. The single includes the mesmerising original, the full version of Solarstone's retouch mix, uplifting remix by Dan Stone and the excellent futuristic Phrakture remix that will introduce the track to a whole new audience. First of all the original mix is a deep haunting moody progressive trancer that starts with chill out intro and quite aggressive unpleasant noise. Slowly from within the noise storm comes the bubbly basslines and the chunky grooves that take us on board for a magnificent journey of the senses. The breakdown reveals the magnificent main melody along with the cinematic spoken vocal sample. The climax is absolutely mouthwatering as it combines deep darkness with the optimistic tones of this unforgettable synthy hook. Its great trance set opener if you like to create sonic journeys that start from the very deep and reach the full on crescendo as I do in my radio shows. Solarstone retouch mix transforms the original into a beautiful driving energetic high class composition with hi-nrg basslines, pumping drums and classic synthy layers. The breakdown is the moment that this earthshaking melody appears to give you goosebumps and make you feel totally rejuvenated. Its the perfect time to do your swimming style dancing on the trancefloor and let yourself totally lost it in its colourful sound spheres. If you consider that this version is one years old we can definitely say that Solarstone music sounds always fresh and current.  Dan Stone pushes the track in his well known Anjunabeats old school trance style packed with banging bouncy beats, metallic driving basslines and excellent application of the magical thought provoking original melody. Synthy heaven that will please your senses and will cause multiple eargasms on the dancefloor so expect to hear a lot of moaning going on. Hands stay in the air and smile on your face particularly in his climax that he pitches up the original synthy hook in order to add more punch and energy to the proceedings. Lastly Phrakture delivers his stunning version which sounds perfect for Cafe del Mar style compilations with spacey sounds combined with organic elements, quitar riffs, pianos and orchestral strings on the top of the breaks grooves that will travel your mind to faraway Horizons. #PureGold Love It
