REVIEW: Shadow Child & Doorly - Climbin (Piano Weapon) out on Polydor / Universal Music

House legend and Rinse FM resident Shadow Child has teamed up with Doorly on new single ‘Climbing (Piano Weapon)’, which is now available to stream on Soundcloud. Following a premiere on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, the new vocal version of 'Piano Weapon' (co-written by MNEK) will be released by Polydor Records this November. Following a run of remixes for big names such as Hot Natured, London Grammar and most recently Duke Dumont, Shadow Child is currently working on original material and playing a run of live dates in Ibiza and across the UK including a London show supporting the legendary Groove Armada.

Simon Neale’s darker, bass-heavy alter ego Shadow Child was born in 2012 with the signing of his bassline house classic ‘String Thing’ to Dirtybird Records. Championed across the world by DJs including Annie Mac, Jamie Jones and Eats Everything, Shadow Child’s early house tracks have attracted a global fan base. Now playing the closing shows on his Summer 2014 tour, Shadow Child will be hitting the studio to complete his debut full-length release. Until then, head to Soundcloud to stream ‘Piano Weapon’ and get stuck into his Rinse FM guest mix series featuring the biggest names in UK house.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Lets welcome one of the big future hits that has all the potential to take the UK Top 40 by storm and reach the number 1 position. Shadow Child collaborates with Doorly for the stunning back 2 basics house beauty Climbin. The excellent house diva style vocals with the optimistic feel good lyrics will give you happiness and enjoyment instantly. The massive old school piano chords give you shivers straight away and crawl easily under your skin. Climbin is based on 90's garage house movement and sounds romantic and fresh at the same time. Nicky Night Time remix is a wonderful deep house interpretation with superb breakdown and build up that will increase intensity and energy levels to the maximum. Kry Wolf remix is dark moody tech house interpretation with tribal house grooves, old school organ riffs, xylophone percussive melodies and superb flow that carry away the listener and easily keep you locked in its hypnotic atmosphere. The piano melody is here to blow you away with some just some parts of the vocal to allow the listener to focus on the music and melodies and less on words. Maison Sky is a powerful techno version with pounding drums, mechanical sharp basslines and the killer piano riff in the breakdown really understated without any vocal input. Thalab remix starts with cool melodic intro and stretched down vocals while the main section is deep dream house with nice guitar riffs, percussive melodies and laid back summery atmosphere. Last but not least Toyboy & Robin deliver their 90's revival meets UK garage version with strong electronic elements as well. The main piano theme is slightly changed and sounds more classical and less soulful that gives it an interesting creative twist! House classic in the making guaranteed. #PureGold Love IT
