REVIEW: Journeyman - Crash Reel out on Anjunadeep

After catching the attention of the whole Anjunadeep A&R team last year with their first release, “Get Closer / Sideways”, Journeyman made an impressive label debut with the “Spend It All EP” this Spring, which was supported by the likes of Groove Armada and Todd Edwards.

“Crash Reel” sees them develop their soulful sound, in another memorable, melodic outing. Some inspired sample work provides the focal point, whilst chiming melodies add layers of depth in what is a stand out track in the recent #1 iTunes Dance compilation Anjunadeep 06.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep can be proud that is one of the first record labels to support that deep house sound that has actually strong melodic input unlike of the classic more soulful deep house sound of the past. Exactly on that very interesting hybrid world is situated the music from Journeyman who simply impress your ears with his magic anthem Crash Reel. The original mix is a magnificent sonic journey that starts with truly cinematic strings, airy pads, warm electronic sounds, organic elements and unusual soulful vocal that is hair raising and definitely sounds very different and special. The main part of the track includes deep haunting basslines, tribal chunky grooves and sensual electronic melodic themes on top with that eccentric eclectic Anjunadeep touch to it. The package includes the longer club edit for the djs who would like to play it and mesmerise their crowd. If you search for tracks that leave a stamp in the heart of the listener you just found one! #PureGold Love It
