REVIEW: ilan Bluestone - Snapdragon EP out on Anjunabeats

Fresh from opening Madison Square Garden for Above & Beyond's Group Therapy 100 celebrations, London's ilan Bluestone continues to ride the wave of studio success that has made him a favourite with the likes of Radio 1's Pete Tong. His second 3 track EP of the year is yet another anthemic collection with a rich orchestral heart; the "Snapdragon EP".

A swirling leviathan of sound, "Snapdragon" highlights ilan's skill for perfectly crafted peak-time tracks. Blossoming from a small, ear catching idea to a full cinematic spectacle, "Snapdragon" erupts into a vast euphoric release; the plucky lead and driving bassline sending the dance floor into a frenzy.

Taking its name from the 1985 space shuttle, "Atlantis" is a slow burner that rises from a deep bassline. With shades of early 2014 hit "Big Ben", ilan weaves string and brass elements together, combining for a rewarding and emotive climax.

Receiving its full debut at Madison Square Garden, "Aurora" takes inspiration from the classic trance synths ilan grew up with; the dark and destructive drop and chopped lead giving the track a ravier edge.

Dimitri Kechagias review: If there is one producer who encapsulates the current hybrid sound of epic progressive house with melodic uplifting trance that one is of course ilan Bluestone. His success is not matter of hype and heavy marketing machine cause we hardly know who he is. It is rather result of heavy work in the studio that I believe soon will be released on an album as well that he really deserves. His EP Snapdragon released on Anjunabeats this week and supported by nearly all the big players in the scene includes three must play anthems. Snapdragon moves on the well known path of pounding bubbly deep basslines, tough pulsating drums, vocal chops, aggressive weird instrumentation and of course top notch breakdown with oriental maybe Chinese influences and memorable synthy hook that will instantly grab your attention and crawl under your skin. When the beat strikes back the track moves to its full on hands in the air euphoric climax that is absolutely mindblowing as it elevates you from the ground to the next level. Atlantis has a more aggressive, in your face tone from the very beginning preparing us for something truly uplifting and spacey maybe. We jump around with hands in the air waiting for the breakdown that of course the magician ilan does his tricks and reveals slowly his spacey cosmic synthy hook out of his hat while the build up is intense and loud until to land on the planet drop that he unleash the feel good colourful synthy hook that will sound perfect while the fireworks appear in the sky. Last but not least Aurora is an interesting variation in his well known established style as his bassline sounds more metallic, the kick is dominating and punchy while the breathing vocals add atmosphere until to land on the breakdown that piano chords relax our senses and superb playful synthy hook introduced on the style and tone of the epic big room house tracks but on that unique ilan Bluestone sound that we so much adore. His build up increases the tension to the maximum and the huge rewarding climax is feel good and positive as we like it to be perfect for mainstage sets that strong melodic themes are favoured. Big, Noisey but melodic and stylish as well. #PureGold Love IT
