REVIEW: David Guetta feat. Sam Martin - Lovers on The Sun remixes out on Parlophone / Warner Music

Having already set a hugely impressive precedent so far in 2014, scooping three consecutive Beatport #1 successes with a trio of meticulously worked, club-focused tracks including Shot Me Down and Bad, as well as announcing a host of coveted Ibiza residencies and festival appearances, David Guetta is back with news of an eagerly awaited summer single. ‘Lovers On The Sun’, featuring a standout vocal from rising star Sam Martin, is a testament to how Guetta’s sound has continued to evolve since the release of landmark, Grammy-nominated albums ‘One Love’ and ‘Nothing But The Beat’ and is sure to make a make a big impression on the charts this summer.

Centered around Martin’s excellent vocal, Guetta, alongside co-producers Avicii, Giorgio Tuinfort & Frederic Riesterer, exhibit just how far their esteemed production skills stretch across the precision-engineered, thoroughly immersive dance music. Shimmering guitar melodies, innovative beat programming and a series of expertly timed instrumental breakdowns give ‘Lovers On The Sun’ the genuine, feel-good energy that only the biggest and best dance records can command.

Also showcasing the collaborative side to high-end dance music, not to mention David’s willingness to work alongside some of his favourite contemporaries, ‘Lovers On The Sun’ makes for a compelling record. Perfectly geared towards the summer, it’s a track that underlines Guetta’s ability to elevate electronic music beyond the normal realms of chart-driven possibility and one that already feels like a crossover hit single in waiting.

Having only just released the last of his club transmissions for the year in ‘Blast Off’ featuring Australian producer Kaz James, as well as announcing residencies at both Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza and an extensive run of European festival dates, 2014 is already shaping up to one of Guetta’s busiest years yet. Now, with ‘Lovers On The Sun’ also firmly on the horizon, there is scope for 2014 to be one of the most successful yet too.

Dimitri Kechagias review: David Guetta is considered to be one of the biggest powerforces in the electronic dance music culture. His ability to spot new talents and support them by including them in his productions is noteworthy and should be credited to him. David Guetta latest single Lovers On The Sun is going to become one of his biggest anthems and there is big possibility to reach the top position on the mainstream charts as well. Lovers On The Sun is more melodic and colourful than his previous party hard tracks. The vocal by Sam Martin is absolutely fabulous with whistle on the background, fantastic Italian Western films guitar melody and the whole atmosphere that continue on that Western films inspired tracks. It sounds very cinematic and Sam Martin performance highlights even more that angle as he has many melodramatic moments that can give you shivers straight away. The climax is uplifting with big euphoric synths to blow your mind and bring happiness in our faces. The remix package is the finest that you can think off and are played on the summer festivals worldwide. Showtek deliver an exception dirty dutch make over that allow the nice vocal to shine in the breakdown followed by huge euphoric uplifting synths and then the manic drop comes in. Aggressive pumping super bouncy basslines, meaty fat and thunderous kicks will keep the crowd dancing and demanding for more. Blasterjaxx are on board as well and they do once again their best to drive the clubbers mad with superb melodic breakdown with the full vocal and uplifting euphoric synthy hooks. The drop is wild and monstrous with playful electro inspired basslines, pumping groove, cool percussive melody on top merged with euphoric synthy stabs. Last but not least Stadium X remix  moves on the same big room house direction with pulsating pounding basslines, cranking kicks and meaty groove. The breakdown takes full advantage of the vocal combined with brand new electronic melodies while the drop is truly euphoric with uplifting hands in the air synths to blow your soundsystem in that Swedish epic prog house style. #PureGold Love IT
