REVIEW: Maarten De Jong - Red & White incl Blue Remix out on Vandit records

01: Maarten de Jong – Red & White (Original Mix)
02: Maarten de Jong – Red & White (Blue Mix)

Back in November Maarten de Jong shredded dancefloors globally with his ‘Face The World’ thunder child. “Tech-trance that’s not for the faint of heart” said DJ Mag, further ‘cautioning’ that the track was “Mad, bad and just a little bit dangerous to know!” Now, with his new studio creation, all the signs are there that he’s done the impossible and topped it. The ultra-talented Hollander has produced a track that draws on all the stylistic colours of the trance flag and, with the dexterity of a juggler, worked them into one extraordinary piece of music.

From the off ‘Red & White’s Original Mix fields fierce tech-trance tremor and Richter Scale-registering, super-subby LFO. Building it tall with one high impact part after another, Maarten uses cascading spacey sub-riff chimes and ebullient progressive house synth lines to generate its lift. Finally, just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any bigger, he sneakily whips its tech boom back in for a final ‘gotcha’ moment!

There's no let up from the Dutchman on 'Red & White’s Blue Mix either. Anvil hard drums, rotund bass, heaps more tech-threat and some squelch bursts of electronica all fire the alt version.

Giving the track their Single of the Month award, MIXMAG said: “Red & White’ might just be the track Maarten de Jong was born to produce. Its appeal is as instant as any trancer inside the last year, fielding three lightning elements almost as quickly as you can hit ‘start’. From there it’s one slap-on-the-brakes moment after another. Complexly programmed hyper-catchy drum & percussion rhythms, Vangelis-worthy chiming note riffs and salient synths - its all here. There’s even a ‘surprise’ second drop whose tech-trance combustion is pure Nakatomi Plaza. Amazing

DJ Mag meanwhile gave it 9/10 in their June issue saying: “Without sounding either chaotic or schizophrenic, De Jong sequences deep, progressive, uplifting, and finally speaker-wilting tech into ‘Red & White’s hyperactive, hyper-creative trance blend. Simply, it’s the Dutchman’s finest track to date, and by quite a margin. Seek out at all costs”.

‘Red & White’ gets the green light on May 5th

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the top artists that he is going to perform on the forthcoming We Are One festival in Berlin organised by the legend Paul van Dyk presents his new single that is already being tipped by the dance magazines as one of the biggest trance tracks for the summer festivals. Maarten de Jong is behind the single of the month for Mixmag and there is reason behind the warm hearted support it gets. Red & White comes in two tasty flavours Original and the Blue Mix. From the two I'm afraid we left with no choice so better choose both cause simply are full on and straight to their goal that is to make you dance relentlessly and feel the energy rush taking over your body from head to toe. The Original mix starts chunky and bubbly with cool synths on top. The first intro breakdown reveals some of the top melodies and then the energetic high nrg bassline is introduced upon the galloping beat while the synthy layers are added gradually until to arrive on the magnificent breakdown. Romantic sweet piano melodies welcomes us followed by huge euphoric synthy stabs to give excitement and sonic pleasures of the mind. The climax is full on hands in the air feel good trance that is energetic and powerful to the maximum. The next breakdown is introduced and the track finishes off as it started. Blue Mix starts in a more Ibiza club trance direction with chopped vocals upon the fat chunky groove. After the first short breakdown the track goes more mental and bass focused with swirling synths, side chain effects and pitched up piano melodies that appear in full length in the breakdown. The synthy stabs appear and sound quite warped along with the piano chords to lead us beautifully in the hands in the air climax that will keep the more progressive minded trancers satisfied. If you like the electro tech trance fused trance Blue is  your color! #PureGold Love IT
