The wonderful voice of SAM SMITH became well known when he took part on London's electro - garage duo Disclosure single "Latch " and later when he co-operated with Naughty Boy for the multi -platinum -certified single- sensation " La La La ".
His first own work Sam Smith had published in October - the EP " Nirvana" . "Nirvana" is the harbinger of the much-anticipated debut album of the only 21 - year-old Brit , that will be released on 23 May 2014. Sam's own first official single from his upcoming first album is called "Money On My Mind" and in Germany will be published on 14.02. 2014.
In England, the title was just an overnight hit after the 2nd December was presented at BBC Radio 1 . - "Money On My Mind" was then within 24 hours whopping 40,000 times clicks on SoundCloud . Ten days after BBC Radio 1 included the title on its playlist - eight weeks before publication. So early BBC Radio 1 has never taken a song on rotation !
The Guardian estimated Smith in an article dated 22/11/2013 as already "at the verge of a breakthrough as a solo artist " and BBC Radio took Smith just in the Long List - The Sound of 2014" on . But that's not all : On 12/12/2013 Sam won the Critics' Choice Award at the BRIT AWARDS - the highest award that can reach a British Newcomer , but are awarded only to those with the best potential carriers of the British music scene . (Prerequisite for qualification is a record deal and the release of their debut album the following year . - The jury consists of renowned British music media representatives.) Sam was selected from more than a hundred nominees. Now he is on par with last year's successful winners such as Adele, Florence & The Machine and Emeli Sandé .
Just four weeks later, on 01.10.2014 , he was also elected to the first place at this year's BBC "Sound of 2014" list * . The BBC newcomer list is considered as one of the safest trend barometer for the music world. Sam inherited so that the well-known last year's winner (2008) , Ellie Goulding (2010) and Jessie J
(2011).
For their "Sound of 2014" list , the BBC has interviewed a variety of music creators , as every year , including magazine editors , newspaper critics , influential bloggers , DJs and TV producers . Each of them should indicate their three personal favorite newcomers - regardless of their commercial potential . For all the voices a longlist of 15 artists was compiled and published in December , the top 5 are fixed now since last week : Sam Smith leads the list before Ella Eyre , Banks, Sampha and George Ezra on .
Soon after the release of the first single "Money On My Mind" Smith will do a tour in Germany : On 06.03.2014 he performs in Cologne Blue Shell and at 06.03.2014 in the Berlin private club .
