In 2007 KATO recorded his first no. 1 hit called “My House”. But even though he started out on top, he didn’t have any idea of the ride he was in for later in life. Since then his releases has hit the gold and platinum status more than 40 times collectively. He’s been awarded with 9 Danish DJ Awards, 2 Gaffa Statuettes,1 Zulu Award and 1 Danish Grammy (Danish Music Award).
The release of his debut album “Discolized” contained multiple hits, which not only paved the way for appearances at major festivals all around Denmark, it also took him abroad for the first time in his career.
His first single of the album,”Turn The Lights Off”, made a huge impact in Scandinavia and spread all the way to Russia where it hit #1 on both the airplay and club charts. The track also drew the attention of Universal Music Germany, who signed KATO and released the single hitting a Top 20 on the German DJ Chart. The philosophy and strength in KATO’s music has always been to combine genres with an extreme focus on the commercial potential. A recipe which has brought the 31-year old multi-talent to a good start both as a solo artist, producer and remix act. In 2012, Kato was in one way or another, involved in at least one danish hit per month. In the spring of 2013 KATO released his long awaited follow up album “Behind Closed Doors”. It was, as expected, full of guest appearances from a wide range of high-profile acts such as Shontelle, Snoop Doog, Infernal, Ida Corr & the legendary danish composer Bent Fabricius-Bjerre. With the hit singles “Never Let U Go”, “Klapper Af Den”, “Alive”, “Danmark” & “I’m In Love”, all reaching gold or platinum status, he established himself once and for all, silencing every choir singing about onehit-wonderdom. As a natural next step in his career, he’ll be focusing abroad, after the last festival turns off his decks this summer.
His foreign adventure will start this winter of 2013/14, releasing his newest smash single “Dimitto (Let Go)” featuring the danish drum legends Safri Duo via Warner Music Germany.
As a huge highlight to end this year KATO will performe at the spectacular MTV NYE Bash at Berlins E-Werk and Hamburgs special sea-side venue Schuppen 52. it's gonna be a breath-taking night, don't miss!
Dimitri Kechagias review: Here we go with a magnificent track that manage to give me goosebumps from the first hearing. Kato & Safri Duo collaborate for the massive Dimitto (Let Go) featuring the incredible singer Bjornskov that YouTube users compare with Enrique Inglesias. The Extended mix is a powerful euphoric progressive house anthem on the Swedish house tradition with pulsating beats, pumping beats and feel good sunny summery hands in the air synths. Except the superb Bjornskov that sounds perfect for EDM tracks stand out Safri Duo with their excellent Live percussion of course. The remix package is pretty extensive with many awesome remixes. First of all the beloved Dutch duo Blasterjaxx rock with their full on hard house sound that includes influences from electro house & dirty dutch sounds as well. Stunning production that keep you breathless dancing on the floor. Kato remix is an excellent euphoric progressive house slammer that works like a treat to groove you with its cool electroish rhythm and then reveal the massive crowd moving and bodyshaking synths that is impossible for human ear to resist. Miles remix is a very interesting dubstep interpretation that friends of bass music will appreciate straight away. Distorted synths, twisted basslines and the full vocal on top is definitely a nice alternative to the more banging versions. Quality package perfect for radio stations and big clubs and festivals. Top video as well. Love iT
