Emerging with the new wave of musicians that are revolutionizing the Progressive House scene, Aji Mon Nair's forward thinking productions and contemporary point of views have been providing an exciting, refreshing sound to advance the scene as a whole. Described as "a slice of Disco tinged House, with the combined sounds of Maceo Plex and Eric Prydz", his multifaceted works span from bright, youthful melodies to deep, dark and heavily technical presentations. Focused on combining retro, iconic influences with a cutting edge drive, Aji clashes past influences with futuristic melodies in a brilliant collision of musical variety. Rather than following trends and producing the industry standard, he is focused on crafting an entirely unique sound to showcase his musical expressions. His obsession for Progressive sounds have provided a determined drive that transitions directly into his pieces, while his earnest goal of educating listeners on different paths of music only adds fuel to the fire.
Originally born in India, Aji Mon Nair spent much of his childhood growing up in Dubai, where he initially began as a mobile DJ who routinely spun at weddings and parties. For nearly two decades, his search for musical inspiration brought him in contact with many different influences from the core of the mainstream to the husk of the underground. Groundbreaking producers, such as Eric Prydz, Axwell, Ferry Corsten, John Digweed, Erick Morillo and Steve Lawler helped give him insight on basic track constructions as well as introduce him to much more advanced concepts, such as musical atmosphere, timbral clarity and orchestration layering.
Finally, in 2008, he finally decided to try his own hand at musical production to express his increasingly diverse musical ideas. With no outside help and no big opportunities to further his career, he had to forge for his own during his starting years and only got to where he is today with long studio hours, hard work and arduous trial and error. First starting out with a fusion of Trance and Electro elements, his sound rapidly evolved over time towards a deep and technical sound whose edgy, punchy qualities embraces pioneering ideologies with underground sensibilities.
In 2010, Aji teamed up with his old classmate, Ninesh Babu, and released their collaboration entitled Prognai, which was quickly supported by a plethora of upcoming Progressive House and Trance artists such as Gai Barone, Steve Haines, Soundprank, Cid Inc. and more. Then, after two more years of intense study to truly master his craft; (as well as creating a handful of originals and remixes), he released his production of Take Over My Soul which was the single domino that began the chain reaction of success towards his budding career. This track also contained a remix by the highly gifted Progressive House producer, Michael Cassette, whose remix picked up airtime on Gareth Emery's podcast series. As the first track to be featured on international airwaves, he was determined to capitalize that success with more conviction and tenacity than ever before.
Following through his rapidly increasing success, his next single, Lights Out, was picked up by Baroque Digital Recordings. This release was particularly important, as the Arnim remix was supported by the legendary Paul Van Dyk on his Vonic Sessions and was an honor to receive such praise, as he was a huge influence on Aji as he was growing up. His sound production was now reaching a certain element of crispness that is almost unmatched in today's scene as he was finally mastering his production abilities. His next work was a remix to the bold, genre bending single of One Day by Fon.Leman and was released on the high quality label of Intricate Records.
His music was now being noticed by some of the most influential leaders in dance music as it received support from Solarstone , Andy Moor, Thomas Datt & Ad Brown on their monthly podcast. Now, with a string of high successes on his belt, Aji Mon Nair now moves into concretely establishing himself as a key figure within the Progressive House world. His upcoming dual EP, which features his singles of “Crown Of Beauty” and “Lets Get Retro”, is his most accomplished work to date and a particularly special release as well. Let's Get Retro combines his deep admiration of 80's synth sounds, (with influences by Human League, Europe and late Van Halen), mixed with his signature Progressive style. Written as a tribute to the masterful talents of Eric Prydz and Michael Cassette, its highly intricate musical structures strive to reach higher levels of technical prowess.
On the flip side, his single of “Crown Of Beauty” is an intimate expression of love towards his wife and her radiant beauty that she holds dear to him. The sound design is crisp and clean, with a noticeably deeper edge than many of his other productions. Let's Get Retro has already received support on the heavily syndicated Group Therapy Radio Show, (#49), by Trance trendsetters, Above & Beyond, and is considered to be his biggest success to date. With an impressive past behind him and a shining future ahead, Aji Mon Nair now seeks to be at the forefront of musical advancement.
Two awesome melodic prog house beauties with atmosphere that evoke feel good emotions. Both are 5/5 without hesitation.
