REVIEW: Solarstone - Love Theme From Blade Runner out on Black Hole recordings

1. Pure Mix

Drawing from one of Vangelis’ most renowned soundtracks, Solarstone has rebooted the theme from the audio auteur’s hallowed ‘Blade Runner’ soundtrack. He has brought trance purity to the beautifully sinister tones of its title theme. Utilizing it as a last tune of the night ID-weapon for many a month, the track (now christened ‘Love Theme from Blade Runner’) has been given the official seal of approval. The trance master is now set to release his love letter to ‘Blade Runner’.

The doomy night-black drama of Vangelis’ echoing piano chimes have rarely sounded better
 – DJ Mag (Sept 2013)

Losing none of its ominous awe-inspiring atmosfear, through Solarstone’s ‘Love Theme From Blade Runner’ Vangelis’ now exerts a hypnotic thrall over the club floor. Using the classic strains of ‘End Titles’, Richard fires the Original’s balanced nexus of dystopian melancholia and towering elevation through the Pure prism.

Developing a pounding sonic underlay, built from pistoning drums, dramatic orchestral cymbal crashes and undulating bass swells, he sets the stage for its big dramatic soundscapes. Retrofitting Vangelis’ analogue synthesizers & FX with purified trance mechanics and unrelenting tension, he filters its darkly timeless melodic chimes into the mix’s system. Brilliantly drawn out over nine fissionable, charged minutes he points Vangelis’ 30-year-old classic at the very heart of the club floor.

 File under? Pure Trance.

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the most seminal pieces of the electronic music written and produced from the synthesizer music legend Vangelis for the soundtrack of one of the most talk about and controversial science fiction film's of all times  Blade Runner returns thanks to the trance master pioneer Solarstone. With his Pure Trance sound in his mind Rich "Solarstone" takes on board for an unforgettable journey, a sonic experience that you must hear and relieve with your imagination in order to appreciate its greatness. Solarstone transfers the cinematic atmosphere in his pumping beats, driving hi-nrg basslines, dark moody strings and the well known synth melody that you get goosebumps whenever you hear it. His version  is uplifting, energetic, euphoric and epic to the maximum by following the rules and conventions of what trance should be. Not about gimmicks and overloading of effects, trance is about the melody and the music theme that in this case is superstrong. Solarstone respects the darkness, moodiness and underground feel of the original and he goes one step higher in the ladder and elevates it to the next level of trance. He makes relevant the track for the young generations to dance along and when they will go back home to find out more about the original and the groundbreaking soundtrack.  I guess that he knew that many so called purists  will wait in the corner to criticise him about how close or not is to the original track. We must never forget that any artist has its own inspiration and Solarstone in my opinion adds his magic spell and will definitely help the original to remain in our memory eternally. Music is all about freedom and creativity and this version manifests that in the most emphatic way. We Love Pure Trance!
