REVIEW: Shogun - Drop / Supernova out on Armind / Armada Music

1.Drop (Original Mix)
2.Supernova (Original Mix)

Inspired by the twinkling lights of a promising future and the long nights of his prosperous DJ career, Shogun presents a new duo to keep us awake. He keeps the energy flowing, with the duo of ‘Drop’ and ‘Supernova’.

The first Shogun sounds of 2013 have landed. And what can we say? They’re absolute killers! With his daring ‘UFO’, the mesmerizing ‘Skyfire’ and warming ‘Amplify’ still in mind, the US based producer surprises with two massive new additions to an already star-studded line of releases.

While ‘Drop’ starts off dreamy, it quickly evolves into a lean, mean floor sweeper with heavy distortion and a deep, dark bassline. ‘Supernova’ rides the same formula, though residing on the more trancy side of things. All shades of trance can be found in these two.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Shogun is uber talented but very lucky as well because the number 1 dj of the world for 5 times Armin van Buuren took him on board on his own label Armind and he offered him the big chance to express himself musically and move thousands of clubbers worldwide with his high quality productions.  His latest EP will blow the speakers, raise the club roofs and finally turn any dancefloor into a huge crazy party. Drop is such a great hybrid of nu rave and trance that will find supporters within the trance and prog house/nu rave circuit. Its so bouncy and banging, full on and rough that will get you jumping without even thinking about it. Some sequences of it are euphoric and uplifting while some others are more nu rave and slamming with distorted pumping basslines. The vocal sample shouting Jump drops at the right moment and you can imagine when the beat drops that clubbers will explode and reach the stars too.  Shogun delivers a forward thinking track perfect to entertain wide variety of club audiences. Supernova on the other hand is as the title suggest a full on forceful powerful extra dynamic big room trance monster that moves of course with the speed of sound and the only way to describe it is exactly its title. Its more melodic, euphoric, uplifting and epic perfect to play at the peak time and watch the crowds go bonkers. In a way it recalls Bonzai club classics like Universal Nation by Push. Shogun is  climbing at the top and he deserves it. Love IT!
