It took the world’s #1 DJ, Armin van Buuren, three years to complete his highly anticipated fifth full-length studio album, INTENSE, the follow-up to his 2010 artist album ‘Mirage’. ‘Intense’ will be released by Armada Music on May 3rd, 2013. On April 5th, the first single from ‘Intense’ will be released: ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ featuring Trevor Guthrie. That same date, it will also be released on the brand new ANA (Armada North America) label, a sublabel of Armada Music focusing on North-American territories. Voted the world’s #1 DJ the unprecedented fifth time by the readers of DJ Magazine in its annual ‘Top 100 DJs’ poll, ‘Intense’ shows van Buuren spreading his wings musically beyond the electronic dance music (EDM) sound of trance his millions of worldwide fans have come to expect. Guthrie, a Canadian singer-songwriter and former member of the 1990’s band, SoulDecision, teamed with van Buuren on ‘This Is What It Feels Like’. On the single, van Buuren fuses the elements of dance, rock and pop into one cohesive song primed for the mainstage.

Most of the month of May will see Armin van Buuren touring North America in support of his INTENSE album. Dates will be announced soon. In the meantime, the Dutch DJ tours the globe with his A State of Trance 600 ‘The Expedition’ tour, with shows in Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Miami, New York, Guatemala and Den Bosch.

Exciting news: On April 30th, at the Java-island in Amsterdam, Armin van Buuren will perform a special set for the new crowned King and Queen of the Netherlands, Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima. Together with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, he will perform during the ‘koningsvaart’, a special, cultural boat-trip in the city of Amsterdam. Armin and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra are now discussing what music they’ll be playing.
Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima aren’t new to Armin’s music. During a visit to New York in September 2009, they rocked to Armin’s set at Governor’s Island, witnessed by thousands of visitors. Since a few years back, the future Queen of the Netherlands has been a patron of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
The ‘koningsvaart’ will start at 19.00 at the Eye Film Institute in Amsterdam-Noord and ends around 20.30 at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ.
