REVIEW: Spix - Closed incl Jess-E out on Wildlife/Black Hole

1. Original Mix
2. Jess-E Remix

Spix presents his brand new single “Closed” on the Wildlife imprint.

Spix, full name Melvin Spix, was born in 1990 in The Netherlands. As a child he played the drums, taking his first steps in the world of music. Initially he was into all kinds of styles, but at age 15 he found is genre of choice and started producing his own trance/progressive music. His initial releases already received the support from artists like Tiësto, Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten. Over time Melvin changed his style and concentrated on tech- and deep house. The success came quickly and the single "Braga" not only got signed to the V-Essentials label, but also harvested the support from big names like Stefan K, Dave Lambert, Roger Sanchez, Ivan Pica, The Flash Brothers, Nikki Belucci and many others. Melvin has released tracks together with T.O.M. and recently dropped his single "The New Generation" on the Black Hole sub label Avanti; now presenting his follow up “Closed” on Wildlife.

“Closed” is definitely one for the house and electro clubs. Melvin’s super funky drum programming on top of a fat bass creates an instant party atmosphere. The shifts of the strings and synths in the breaks are perfect for screaming hands in the air moments. Jess-E worked his classic tinged magic on the original with his remix. “Closed” is a perfect track for every house DJ that wants to have his dance floor wide open for the dancing crowd!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Wildlife is your quality house imprint coming from the underground and delivering the more eclectic house gems on the deep or tech house sub styles. The brand new release comes from Spix and is quite upfront and is named Closed. The groove, the funky basslines, the cool vocal samples and the distorted pitched melodies in the breakdown will surprise many clubbers. Its one of those tracks that playing it loud in a clear and crispy sound system is a requirement if you want fully to enjoy it. Jess-E is an amazing talent and his productions skills become better and better in each every single release. His version has balearic influences with pumping bass and beats for peak time usage on any tech house or prog house set. Chunky, wonky, melodic and cheerful is certainly a feel good choice not to be missed. Love IT!
