01. There's Light Somewhere
02. Headrocking
03. Prayer
04. Tales From A Concrete Jungle.
Mecanek started out making music at a young age. As so many youngsters in the Netherlands, he got involved in the hardcore techno-scene. In those days he got featured on several compilations and vinyl-releases.
As he had always been interested in different kinds of music, he decided to broaden his horizons. When local dj DZD2 introduced him to dubstep, Mecanek heard the potential of this new genre. Inspired by pioneers like Skream and Benga, who seemed to blend all sorts of different sounds into one coherent style, he wanted to undergo this exciting journey himself.
Not without results. He did a brief return to his roots together with good friend and hardcore-producer D-Version. DJ Kutski described this collaboration, a combination of hardcore-techno and dubstep, as ”something quite unique” and "an awesome experimental track". He immediately featured it as “Hardest Record in the World Right Now” on his BBC Radio 1-show. Mecanek also did a pure dubstep-remix, which got released on different compilations.
Now it’s time to share his musical vision with the world, by dropping his debut-e.p. on Rub A Duck. Some people believe that all dubstep has started to sound alike, but Mecanek proves the opposite by providing four entirely different tracks. The Intrinsic Light EP features music that reflects aggression and utter despair, but also hope and euphoria. Even though they sound different, they are definitely Mecanek-tracks and together they provide his ultimate mission statement: expect nothing, expect everything!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The top Dutch label Rub A Duck continues to search for the finest bass tracks and the latest EP falls in the dubstep category. Not only one or two but just four mega dubstep tracks produced with love and attention to detail from Mecanek. If you find this new genre interesting and something that you would love to dance too then this EP is going to touch you in all the right places. There's Light Somewhere is the happiest and most euphoric dubstep track that I ever happened to check out. Its slower than the most tracks with emotional piano chords, well known vocal sample from the trance era, and great distorted, squeezed and turned beats and basslines. Its rhythm is very ear catching and I can imagine the crowd going ballistic to it. Headrocking as the title suggests is the harder of the four brothers. Rough, raw with sharp bass perfect for mind washing and mind frying effects. You dance to it and you got a nice headache if you are not hard enough or young enough for it. Your brain cells will love it! Prayer is a highly cinematic piece with strings that build tension, anxiety and suspense and on top an Eastern priest telling his prayer. The result is a very imaginative and creative track that could easily feature in a movie or tv serial. Tales From A Concrete Jungle is the darker chill out, loungy track with dramatic synths, electro beats, spoken vocal samples and on the breakdown a very tasty female house diva type vocal. Scratch effects, cinematic sounds and plenty of imagination and creativity raise this track on the next level. Dubstep has mainly strong supporters and haters and there is no middle situation. This EP is not your average dubstep EP. Its rather a step further..
