REVIEW: First State featuring Sarah Howells - Seeing Stars out on Magik Muzik / Black Hole

1. Original Mix

First State presents his new single “Seeing Stars” on the Magik Muzik imprint. Teaming up for the vocals is the lovely Sarah Howells.

"Seeing Stars" was preceded by First State’s two singles “Holding On” (with Max C) and “Why So Serious”, as recorded with the young Boston native Jake Shanahan. This new production, “Seeing Stars”, showcases First State’s ever developing, new sound as the perfect foundation for a solid Progressive House track that seems to be tailor made for Sarah Howells. First State has been pretty busy this last couple of months and he recently also released his brand new double mix compilation “The Whole Nine Yards 2: Jakarta - Amsterdam”.

On the new “Seeing Stars”, we hear First State’s take on state of the art, electro house influenced Progressive House. With plenty of room for the on the beat hand claps and chorus driven synths and strings, First State creates a sparkling party atmosphere.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Just the name of the artists brings sometimes waves of excitement all over your body. The uber talented First State unites his forces with the lovely and absolutely stand out singer Sarah Howells for their fantastic collaboration called Seeing Stars. We have high hopes for this new single and we are not left down. Because the two great talents deliver one of the biggest crossover progressive tracks for 2013. The whole composition has plenty of musicality and emotion something that seems to be slowly missing on many tracks in favour of distorted stretched basslines and experimentation in order to create that aggressive rock music like party  feeling that big rooms need in order to unite thousands of clubbers. Seeing Stars instead moves to the real music direction and manage to get the clubbers dancing with bouncy beats, energetic basslines and most importantly heartbreaking piano theme in the breakdown that works really well as the big room synths come from the deep to the surface for the well deserved hands in the air pay off moment. Sarah Howells goes one step further and rather than singing the usual stuff she sing a whole story that can draw the listener very easily into it. Her performance is emotional and sensitive with her fragile innocent voice working like a music medicine that heals the woods and uplift the spirit. First State and Sarah seems to work wonderfully together and their tracks become an instant classic like this one. House or Trance jocks must play it. Love IT!
